Ha Jung-woo (Koree) is a South Korean actor, film producer, and film producer.

Ha's starring films have earned more than 100 million tickets in South Korea, making him one of the country's highest grossing actors.

Only three other actors have made it to this extent, with Ha being nearly a decade younger than the majority in attaining this feat.

With the role in Na Hong-jin's serial killer film The Chaser (2008), he came to fame.

Ha Hates, a leading actor in Korean cinema, portrayed his versatility in films of various genres, including road thriller My Dear Enemy (2008), sports film Take Off (2009), and action thriller The Terrorist (2011).

Early life

Ha Jung-woo was born Kim Sung-hoon and came from an acting family. Kim Yong-gun, his father, has appeared in numerous films and television series, as well as younger brother Kim Young-hoon (stage name: Cha Hyun-woo) is an aspiring actor. Ha ha has said that since he was four or five years old, he has always dreamed of being an actor like his father. Hadid trained at a private acting school before enrolling in college, and Lee Beom-sooo was his instructor at one time. He then enrolled at Chung-Ang University as a theatre major, where he appeared on stage.

Kim Sung-hoon made his acting debut in the 2002 SBS sitcom Honest Life and his debut film Madeleine in 2003. Kim's acting career was relatively low-key for the next few years, appearing in various supporting roles but not receiving a lot of attention. Kim joined SidusHQ in 2005 and was given the stage name "Ha Jung-woo" on their recommendation. He appeared in his first film role in The Unforgiven, a blistering review of military service violence.

Ha's subsequent appearances in Kim Ki-duk's Time and Breath brought greater attention to his acting skills in Korea and abroad. Go Hyun-jung's portrayal of a cool-headed prosecutor who is romantically linked to a feisty police officer in the popular MBC drama series H.I.T attracted female followers and increased his respect among the masses. He appeared in the American indie film Never Forever starring Vera Farmiga, which earned acclaim from the film festival circuit.

In 2008's film The Chaser, Ha's breakout came as he played a psychopath character loosely based on serial killer Yoo Young-chul. The film became a huge hit at the Korean box office, raking in over 5 million ticket sales, while still receiving high praise from critics and numerous awards from local award-giving bodies. Martin Scorsese, the American director who is rumored to be in charge of a Hollywood remake of The Chaser, has praised Ha as having as much potential as his The Departed actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon. The same year, Ha's debut of a charming scoundrel in My Dear Enemy showcased his versatility and made him one of the Korean film industry's most coveted actors. He appeared in The Moonlight of Seoul, Boat, and Take Off from 2008 to 2009. Take Off, which is based on the Korean national ski jumping team, became one of the biggest box office hits of 2009.

In Na's sophomore film The Yellow Sea reunites Ha reunited with his director Na Hong-jin and costar Kim Yoon-seok, earning the Ha Best Actor trophies from the Asian Film Awards, Baeksang Arts Awards, and the Korean Association of Film Critics. Ha then appeared in the film The Client, which recalled his early days of acting, and the producer lauded Ha for his "moments of true brilliance and genius" during the production. Samsung Electronics unveiled Galaxy Note, the company's new Tablet hybrid smartphone, in early 2012, in a rousing PPL-frequent-film project. The massive project, titled Cine Note, features three shorts by directors Kang Hyeong-cheol, Jang Hoon, and E J-yong. For all three films, Ha played the lead role, while celebrated musician Lee Seung-chul produced music using the device, and noted webtoon artists Son Jae-ho and Lee Gwang-soo created the film's animated content.

Nameless Gangster: The Rules of the Time was Ha's third collaboration with longtime friend director Yoon Jong-bin, as well as starring celebrated veteran actor Choi Min-sik. This was followed shortly by Gong Hyo-jin, the unconventional romantic comedy Love Fiction opposite. Both were big hits in the box office. Haenam, South Jeolla Province, was on a cross-country walking trip from Seoul to Haenam, South Jeolla Province, after wrapping Love Fiction. They were chronicled in the documentary 577 Project, denoting the total distance covered in kilometers. Ha was in charge of three aspects of the production, including planning, acting, and casting. After winning back-to-back Best Actor awards at the 2010 and 2011 Baeksang Arts Awards, he said he did it to thank followers. Ha starred in The Berlin Files of Ryoo Seung-wan as a North Korean agent who is betrayed and cut loose in Berlin's financial crisis. He appeared on the thriller The Terror Live, then playing a news anchor with an exclusive, live broadcast on a terrorist attack.

Ha's debut with Rollercoaster (released worldwide as Fasten Your Seatbelt) was based on his own screenplay about the humorous interactions between the cabin crew and passengers of a flight from Tokyo to Gimpo International Airport, which included an arrogant Hallyu actor played by Jung Kyung-ho) on a flight from Tokyo to Gimpo International Airport, which was in danger of crashing if the plane encounters a big storm. The film was a huge success in the box office.

In the period action film Kundo: The Rampant, Havoc played a Joseon era butcher-turned-out. When the Day Comes, Ha Havoc, a Kim Yong-hwa film adaptation of Along With the Gods, about a court in the aftermath of the death of President Chun Doohwan's military regime in 1987, when the civilian regime was ended. In the 2018 sequel, he reprised his role as Gang-rim, Assassinated the Gods: The Last 49 Days.

Ha starred in Take Point, reuniting with Terror Lives producer Kim Byung-woo in 2018.

In 2019, Hawas was cast in the science fiction action film Mount Paektu.
