Ma has made a name for himself in South Korea's most well-known and bankable actor, with his break out appearances in Train to Busan and subsequent leading roles.

Early life

Ma was born on March 1, 1971. He is a citizen of the United States. He lived in Ohio and attended Columbus State before returning to South Korea to start his acting career.

Personal life

Ye Jung-hwa, a sports reporter and television presenter, was reported dating in 2016. He and Ye have reported their marriage last year, according to Ma's office, which was announced on October 20, 2022. Ma came to fame as a support actor in the films The Neighbor, Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time, and The Unjust. He then appeared in Norigae, Murderer, and One on One.

Ma's involvement in the zombie film Train to Busan gained him international recognition. His subsequent films include Derailed, The Bros, The Outlaws, The Assassin, The Conqueror, The Cop, the Devil, The Bad Guys: The Most Bankable Star of Korean Cinema, As you age, The Bad Guys: The Last 49 Days and Ashfall have been a hit in films, with critic and commercial success leading him to the Most Bankable Star of Korean Cinema. Though he is best known for his 'tough guy' persona roles,' Ma is often lauded and chastised for his role in his films. Gilgamesh, the MCU film that celebrated his Hollywood debut, made him join the cast of MCU's Eternals in 2019.

Ma is best known for his appearances in the hit OCN series Bad Guys and Squad 38.
