Rupinder Singh "Gippy" Grewal, is an Indian actor, singer, film director and producer whose works span over Punjabi and Hindi film industry. His single Phulkari broke many records in the Punjabi music industry.

He made his acting debut in the 2010 movie, Mel Karade Rabba, and which he followed with Carry On Jatta, Lucky Di Unlucky Story, Bhaji in Problem and Jatt James Bond.

He revived "PTC Best Actor Award" in 2011 for his performance in the 2011 film Jihne Mera Dil Luteya.

He received the "PIFAA Best Actor Award" in 2012 along with Diljit Dosanjh and received "PTC Best Actor Award" in 2015 for Jatt James Bond along with Diljit Dosanjh.

After his hit movie Faraar, he came with Kaptaan and lock in 2016.

Music career

Atul Sharma produced Chakkh Lai, Grewal's debut on the album Chakkh Lai. He followed Aaja Ve Mitraa, Mele Mitraan De, Phulkari 2, and many more. He has become a well-known name in Punjabi Music. Audience was raving about Aman Hayer's eighth album "Desi Rockstar" in 2021. He performed the song "Anggreji Beat at" on the album, which was later revealed to be his best song of his career. He loved his prime time of fame from 2010 to 2014, making him the top performer in Punjabi Music Industry. "Angreji Beat" was featured in the Bollywood film Cocktail in 2012.

In Las Vegas, Nevada, Elvis' 2013 single "Hello Hello" was shot. In 2014, he appeared at the Sandwell and Birmingham Mela. He was a wedding singer long before his fame, but not so well known. He appeared at weddings in Punjab, India, regularly.

Film career

Grewal made his film debut Halteing his role in Mel Karade Rabba, a Punjabi-language film made in 2010. When it came out, he continued to play in Jihne Mera Dil Luteya, which became Punjab's biggest hit since its inception. Mirza – the Untold Story, a Punjabi film from 1981, had the highest opening for a Punjabi film at the time.

Carry On Jatta's sequel was released in July 2012 and had the second highest opening and total collections for Punjabi films. Grewal unveiled the action film Singh vs. Kaur, comedy film Lucky Di Unlucky Story and Best of Luck, as well as the comedy film Bhaji in Problem.

He appeared in the dramatic thriller Jatt James Bond in 2014. Double Di Trouble, his second film of 2014, was his second film.

In the Punjabi version of A Good Day to Die Hard, he dubbed a voice, the first Hollywood film to be dubbed in Punjabi.

Grewal made a guest appearance in the comedy-drama film Dharam Sankat Mein in 2015 portrayed pop star Manjeet Manchala. With the romantic-comedy film Second Hand Husband, he made his complete acting debut in Bollywood.

Ardaas, his first directional debut, was launched in 2016.

Gippy Grewal and Farhan Akhtar appeared in his most recent Hindi film, Lucknow Central, in September 2017. Carry on Jatta 2 was unveiled on June 1, 2018.

In 2022, he founded Big Daddy Films, a new film house.
