Career
Cherry was credited as "Teenager" in the film Arthur 2: On the Rocks in 1988. Born on the Fourth of July, he was regarded as "Vet #1" in 1989. He appeared on the short-lived NBC action/aventure television show South Beach in 1993.
Cherry's father died in 1995. He returned to Stockholm to concentrate on his music rather than an acting career. Desireless, his debut album, was written and recorded in his bedroom studio on an acoustic guitar. Cherry's ingenuity led him to keep the songs under wraps until the album was almost complete, according to manager Tommy Manzi. Around the world, the album became a huge hit. Desireless has sold four million copies around the world and has been certified platinum in the United States.
Cherry co-wrote and sang on "Wish It Was" on Santana's 1999 album Supernatural, as well as in films including Wim Wenders' The Soul of a Man, The Love of a Man, Best Laid Plans, Billy Elliot, and "Over Her Dead Body."
