Early life
Lilykke Timotej Zachrisson was born in Ystad, Skne; her mother, Kärsti Stiege, was a photographer, and her father, Johan Zachrisson (stage name Zilverzurfarn), is a member of the Swedish punk-reggae band Dag Vag. Zacharias Zachrisson, her younger brother (a.k.a. Vacation Forever (Joy) is also a singer. When Zachrisson was a child, the family moved to Stockholm, Portugal, where they lived for five years. The family spent time in Lisbon and Morocco as well as in Nepal and India. When she was 19 years old, she moved to Brooklyn, New York City, for three months. She performed her album when she was 21 years old.
Personal life
Lykke Li wrote about her practice of transcendental meditation in 2014: "It's really fascinating from a creative standpoint." Before, I could only write a few sentences, and I'd have to take a break for a few days before going back to it. Career
Lykke Li released Little Bit, her first EP, in 2007. Stereogum selected her as an artist to watch in October 2007 and characterized her sound as a mash-up of soul, electro, and "powdered-sugar pop." Youth Novels, Li's debut album, was released on LL Recordings in the Nordic region on January 30, 2008, and was released in June 2008 as part of a wider European release. The album was reportedly inspired by Peter Bjorn, John and Lasse Mrtén's previous marriage of three years. On August 19, 2008, it was first released in the United States. The album was released in the United Kingdom in June 2008, followed by a appearance of "Little Bit" on Later... with Jools Holland on May 25, 2008.

In the 2009 horror film Sorority Row, a remixed version of her song "I'm Fine, I'm Gone." The song "Possibility" was written for the 2009 film The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Lykke Li had been invited to write a song to accompany the film soundtrack but was unable to commit to the project. Lykke Li made her acting debut in the 2014 Swedish crime film Tommy, directed by Tarik Saleh, and recorded a song for the film, "Du är den ende." For the soundtrack to The Fault in Our Stars, she wrote "No One Ever Loved" which was released on May 19, 2014.
