Dominic Keating (born 1 July 1962) is an English television, film, and theatre actor best known for his role as Tony in Channel 4's Desmond's and Lieutenant Malcolm Reed's Star Trek: Enterprise.

Early life and education

Keating was born Dominic Power in Leicester to an Irish father; his grandfather, a brigadier, was awarded an OBE. As a character in The Ragged School, his first stage appearance was in primary school. He then attended Uppingham School.

He worked in various fields before deciding to be a professional actor after graduating from University College London with first-class awards in history. Since there was already represented by the actor's union Equity, he adopted Keating, his mother's maiden name. He served in a drag act called Feeling Mutual to get his Equity card.

Before serving as a television and film actor, Keating had success on the UK stage. Cosmo in Philip Ridley's The Pitchfork Disney and Bryan in Michael Wall's Among the Hundredst Barbarians for which he received a Mobil Award. He has also performed at the Edinburgh Playhouse Festival, The Christian Brothers at King's Cross, The Best Years of Your Life at the Man in the Moon Theatre, Screamers at the Edinburgh Playhouse Festival, and Alfie at the Tiffany Theater.

Keating appeared in the UK for the first time in history as Tony in Channel 4's (1989–95). He went on to play Inspector Morse and other guest-starring roles.

He spent time in the United States as the demonic warrior Mallos on the short-lived 2000 series The Immortal, and starred in the Zalman King film chromiumblue.com. Before landing a major television role as Lieutenant Malcolm Reed on Star Trek: Enterprise, he appeared on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, G vs E, and Special Unit 2, among other shows. Since then, he has appeared on television shows Las Vegas, Holby City, and the CSI: NY episode "Uncertainty Rules."

Keating appeared in the cast of Heroes for its second season, portraying an Irish mobster in a four-episode arc. He appeared on three episodes of Fox TV's Prison Breakout, and in 2010 he appeared on FX's original series Sons of Anarchy.

Keating has appeared in films including The Hollywood Sign and The Auteur Theory, and he will be seen in Certifiably Jonathan and Hollywood Kills, as well as Robert Zemeckis' animated version of Beowulf. He revealed himself as an Australian scientist in the Species sequel Species IV at a Sacramento, California, on September 9, 2006. He has appeared in several short films, including Tim Russ' Plugged (2007), a satire on modern advertising. He also appears as Sherlock Holmes' brother in the Asylum film Sherlock Holmes (2010), as well as providing a voice-over in the Ricky Gervais film The Invention of Lying (2009).

Keating appeared in a commercial in the early 1990s Vidal Sassoon, where his British pronunciation of "salon" resulted in a parody on Saturday Night Live. He has written audiobooks and voiced the minor character 'Mouse' in BioWare's Dragon Age: Origins, and he's been on audiobooks and voiced (uncredited) the minor character 'Mouse'. Ian Westbury, a fictional British rock actor, appeared in Sprint/Nextel commercials.

Keating has been named as the voice of "Kormac the Templar" in Blizzard Entertainment's PC game Diablo 3. He was the voice of Gremlin Prescott in Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, and he had provided Prescott's vocal effects in the previous game.
