Nicholas Turturro (born January 29, 1962) is an American actor best known for his appearances in New York City-based films as well as in the TV series Blue Bloods and NYPD Blue.
Nicholas is John Turturro's younger brother and cousin of Aida Turturro.
Early life
Turturro was born in Brooklyn, New York. Katherine Florence (Incerella), the son of Italian immigrants with roots in Sicily, was an amateur jazz musician who served in a Navy yard during World War II. Nicholas Turturro Sr., a carpenter and shoemaker who immigrated from Giovina, Italy, at the age of six and later served as a US Navy serviceman on D-Day. Turturro, then a struggling actor, was employed as a doorman for the Manhattan apartment building, where Billy Joel lived at the time. Joel brought all the women home by holding his hands; Joel's soon-to-be wife, Christie Brinkley, was the only one to have ten fingers twice; Turturro will list them all.
Career
He received an Emmy Award nomination for his role as James Martinez on the television show NYPD Blue, and was on the show for the first seven seasons. For the main event of Shawn Michaels versus Diesel, he was a guest ring announcer at Wrestlemania XI. His resume includes portraying Al Capone on The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and playing Brucie in The Longest Yard and Renaldo. Turturro first appeared on Crackle in July 2009. He was a Sgt. Anthony Renzulli on Blue Bloods from 2010 to 2016.
