Divock Origi Life

Divock Okoth Origi (born 18 April 1995) is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Liverpool and Belgium's national team.

Mike Origi, the son of former Kenyan professional footballer Mike Origi, is the uncle of a former Kenyan professional footballer. Origi began his career at Lille and scored on his debut for them in 2013.

He was signed by Liverpool, who loaned him back to Lille for the 2014-2015 Ligue 1 season, a year and a half later. Origi was integral to the team during the 2018-19 season after suffering with injuries and going on loan at Wolfsburg.

Origi scored twice against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final second leg leg of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, defeating Liverpool's youngest goalscorer in Belgian World Cup history in the sixth minute of injury time.

Personal life

Origi was born in Ostend and grew up in Houthalen-Oost. He was named after Serbian basketball player Vlade Divac. He was born into a family of footballers: Mike Origi, his father, played for KV Oostende (at the time Divock was born) and Genk, as well as the Kenya national team. Austin Oduor Origi's uncle was a member of Gor Mahia in the Kenyan Premier League, but his other uncles, Gerald and Anthony, played for Tusker. Arnold Origi, his cousin, has also been capped as a goalkeeper for Kenya's national team. The Origi family is of Kenyan Luo ethnicity. Origi speaks three languages fluently: Swahili, English, Dutch, and French.

Origi is a Christian. “My faith, being a Christian, has the virtues of working hard, but staying focused on the right things that aids you in life,” he said. Of course, you're going to slip. I made mistakes. But those mistakes helped me and now help me these days."

A baby dolphin at the Boudewijn Seapark in Bruges was baptized "Origi" on June 25, after Origi scored the winning goal against Russia during Belgium's group stage match at the 2014 World Cup.

Divock Origi Career

Club career

Origi started playing football at Genk's youth academy, where he spent nine years before joining Lille in May 2010, aged 15, after turning down an approach by Manchester United.

Origi was an unused substitute in Lille's 3–1 away victory over Plabennec in a 2012–13 Coupe de France match on January 24, 2013. He scored on his debut for the senior Lille side in Ronny Rodelin's 69th minute, bringing his team from 1–0 down against Troyes.

Liverpool announced on July 29, 2014, that they had completed a £10 million transfer for Origi, who had signed a five-year deal, but that he was then loaned back to Lille for the 2014-2015 season.

Origi scored his first goal of the new Ligue 1 season in Lille on a penalty against Caen to gain a 1–0 victory for his team. This was after defender Dennis Appiah was kicked out of the box by the referee in the 70th minute.

Origi had a penalty saved by Diego Benaglio on November 11, 2014 after Lille lost 0–3 at home to VfL Wolfsburg to be banned from the UEFA Europa League group stage. Origi scored a hat-trick for Lille in a 3–0 league victory over Rennes on March 15, 2015.

Origi was named in Liverpool's 30-man squad for their pre-season tour of Thailand, Australia, and Malaysia on July 11, 2015. Origi scored his first goal for the club in his non-competitive debut against the Thai All-Stars on July 14th, scoring his first goal for the club in a 4–0 victory.

Danny Ings was recalled for the final sixteen minutes of a 3–1 loss at rivals Manchester United in Danny Ings' first competitive game for the team on September 12th. In a 6–1 away victory over Southampton in the quarter-finals of the League Cup on Sunday, Origi scored his first competitive goals on December 2nd, a hat-trick. For a 2–2 draw against West Bromwich Albion, Eleven days later, he scored his first Premier League goal, replacing the injured Dejan Lovren in the 79th minute and adding an added-time equalizer from outside the penalty area. He scored his second league goal against Aston Villa in a 6–0 victory on February 14th, only 27 seconds after replacing Daniel Sturridge in the second half; this was the fastest goal scored by a substitute this season.

During Liverpool's Europa League quarter-final match against Borussia Dortmund, Klopp's former manager, Jürgen Klopp surprisingly started Origi ahead of Sturridge (the team's first-choice striker) on April 7, 2016. Origi scored a vital away goal in a 1-1 draw. He scored two goals in a 4–1 victory over Stoke City after coming on as a replacement to replace Sheyi Ojo at halftime.

Origi sustained a serious ankle ligament injury in a home game against Everton on April 20th. Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori was suspended after a foul tackle, prompting a red card and a subsequent three match suspension.

At the start of the 2016-2017 campaign, Origi was mainly used as a back-up and cup player. In a 5–0 EFL Cup victory over Burton Albion on August 23, he scored his first goal of the season. In a 2–0 victory over Sunderland, he scored his first 2016–17 Premier League goal on November 26th, taking him off the bench for the injured Philippe Coutinho to score the opener. He scored Liverpool's third goal in a 3–1 victory over Everton on April 1, 2017. In a 4–0 victory over West Ham United on May 14, he scored Liverpool's fourth game in a 4–0 victory, edging the team closer to Champions League qualification.

Origi scored his first goal of the season on December 2nd in a Merseyside derby match against city rivals Everton, which Liverpool defeated 1–0. Origi came on as a replacement for Roberto Firmino in the 84th minute and scored a header in the 96th minute, capitalizing on Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford's mistake. Liverpool beat Newcastle 3–2 on 4 May 2019, keeping Liverpool's search for their first title since the Premier League's inception of the Premier League alive.

Origi scored for the first time in the Champions League on May 7th, netting a brace against Barcelona in the semi-final second leg, with Liverpool's comeback from a three-goal first leg defeat. In a 2–0 victory over Tottenham in the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final, he scored his second goal for the club on June 1st. Since Yannick Carrasco in 2016, he became the second Belgian player to score in a Champions League final.

Origi signed a new long-term deal with Liverpool on July 10, 2019. Origi scored twice, including a last-minute bicycle kick, in an EFL Cup match against Arsenal, which Liverpool eventually won on penalties after a 5–5 regular time finish. Liverpool beat Everton 5–2 in the Merseyside derby on December 4th, extending their undefeated streak in league football to 32 matches, a new club record.

Origi appeared seventeen times in Liverpool's history, scoring just one goal in the course of the 2020-21 season. In a 2–0 Carabao Cup victory over Preston on October 27th, his second goal in the 2021-22 season was a scorpion kick inside the six-yard box. Liverpool beat AC Milan 2–1 on December 7, 2021, becoming the first English club to win all six Champions League group games in the competition's history.

Origi would leave the club at the end of the month when his deal came to an end, according to Liverpool in June 2022.

Origi joined Serie A club AC Milan on a four-year deal on July 5, 2022.

International career

Origi has played for Belgium under the age of 15, under-16, under-17, under-19, and under-21. He scored ten goals in his under-19 team, the first in a 2013 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualification match against Belarus on October 12.

The Football Kenya Federation expressed a keen interest in persuading Origi to play for the Kenya senior national team in the future. Origi will be included in the Belgium senior national team's (Japan) squad representing Belgium at the 2014 FIFA World Cup on May 13, 2014.

In the 58th minute of the first Group H game against Algeria in Belo Horizonte on June 17, Origi appeared as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku. He scored his first senior international goal in Belgium's second match, after being a back-up for Lukaku in the 88th minute of a 1–0 victory over Russia, qualifying the Red Devils for the knockout stage. In doing so, he became the first Kenyan goalcorer of the tournament (until American winger Julian Green scored against Belgium in their round of 16 matches) and the first Kenyan origins player to score at a World Cup finals. He was named Young Talent of the Year 2014 Belgian Sportsman of the Year awards for his appearances.

Origi scored once in Belgium's encouraging UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, defeating Andorra 6–0 on October 10, 2014. He was in the squad for the final tournament but missed out on the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The REAL Evangelos Marinakis: The explosive hire-and-fire merchant behind Forest's outrageous ref rant has another side - yachts, pop songs, big money... and even bigger tantrums

TOM COLLOMOSSE: The image is one of the most arresting of the season. The date is March 2 and Darwin Nunez has just scored for Liverpool in the ninth minute of stoppage time, to secure a controversial 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest. Yet again, Forest feel wronged by a crucial refereeing decision moments earlier and not long after the final whistle sounds, players and staff march towards the officials, boiling with rage. Forest coach Steven Reid turns the air blue and is subsequently banned from the touchline for his tirade at referee Paul Tierney. There are boos and catcalls. Amid it all, owner Evangelos Marinakis stands alone on the touchline, a study in brooding anger.

As the Nottingham Forest striker looks to continue his scoring spree against Fulham, Chris Wood will score anytime against Fulham at 11/8

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 2, 2024
In both of Nottingham Forest's previous two matches against Crystal Palace and Luton, Chris Wood has been in fine scoring form of late, finding the back of the net in both of their previous two games against Crystal Palace and Luton. In 23 Premier League appearances this season, the 32-year-old has scored ten times, and Forest will be looking to their leading goalscorer to help them beat Tottenham, Brighton, and Man United beat them in their last five games. Chris Wood will score anywhere during the game, and Sky Bet is paying 4/1 on the New Zealand striker to finish first.
