Musical career
Jones was about 18 years old when he formed Red Edge with his brother and some acquaintances, but the band needed a singer. Jones placed an advertisement in the local Brisbane music paper Time Off, searching for a good singer. Darren Hayes responded to the ad and became their singer. Hayes got sick of hearing other people's songs and was ready to leave Red Edge, and Jones wanted to create his own music. Both members decided to leave the band and begin a career together, marking the start of Savage Garden.
Darren Hayes handled lead vocals and arrangements on their albums, while Jones played guitar, keyboard, and sang. They wrote their songs together.
Both men travelled around the world to promote their first album, Savage Garden (1997). Jones decided that he was not familiar with the press junket circuits and the intense scrutiny from fans and journalists who were supporting them, and told the band's manager that he wanted to leave. As a result, Hayes decided to continue with the band's marketing until the band's second album was out. Affirmation (1999): Hayes declared that Savage Garden was over in 2001. Affirmation has sold 8 million copies.
Jones formed his own recording studio in 2001 and launched the music label Meridien Muzic. Aneiki, a pair made up of Grant Wallis and Jennifer Waite, who appeared on the label's first act on the Future of Earthly Delites tour, was the label's first act. "Words in Place of Objects" by Meridien Musik; Jones five songs with Waite include "Dearest," "She Says," "Saving Grace," "Feel This Fool" and "Sugar Lust." That was the only music Aneiki would ever unleash.
Jones co-wrote a song called "Falling" for their fourth and final album, Dysfunctional, in 2002. Jones, a singer from Australia, and the Australian band The Wish (Peter Freebairn and Bill Kio) for their respective debut albums in 2004.
