Cynthia Stevenson (born August 2, 1962) is an American actress.
She has appeared in several films including The Player, Forget Paris, Home for the Holidays, Happiness, and Air Bud: Golden Receiver, as well as other television shows Cheers, My Talk Show, Bob, Hope and Gloria, Oh Baby, Death Like Me, Men in Trees, and Surviving Suburbia are among others.
Life and career
Stevenson was born in Oakland, California, the niece of Gayle, an editor, and Al Stevenson, an upholstery store owner. She grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. She lived in Vancouver from age 10 to 2008 and then returned to work when she first began there in 2001 and 2008. She enrolled at the University of Victoria, BC, in Victoria, BC.
Stevenson made her television debut in 1987 in an episode of Max Headroom. She appeared in the made-for-television films A Father's Homecoming and Double Your Pleasure, as well as a leading role in the 1989 pilot for Married to the Mob. In two episodes of Cheers, she appeared as Norm Peterson's top-strung secretary Doris.
Stevenson appeared in the short-lived syndicated comedy series My Talk Show from 1990 to 1991. She appeared alongside Bob Newhart and Carlene Watkins in the CBS sitcom Bob the following year. After two seasons, the show was cancelled. She made her big screen debut in Robert Altman's comedy The Player in 1992. She appeared in a number of comedies, including Watch It (1993), Forget Paris (1995), Home for the Holidays (1995), Happiness (1995), and its sequels (1999).
