Scott Colton (born May 6, 1980) is an American professional wrestler and color commentator better known by his ring name Colt Cabana.
Ring of Honor (ROH) and the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA).
He is the former NWA National Champion.
In Wrestling Society X and Chikara, Colton competed as Scotty Goldman in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and as the old school masked wrestler Matt Classic. Cabana's career began in the Midwest.

Early life
Scott Colton was born in Deerfield, Illinois, on May 6, 1980, and he was joined in a Jewish family. He attended Western Michigan University and played on their football team before graduating in 2002 with a degree in Business marketing.
Personal life
While at Western Michigan University, Colton became friends with Matt Cappotelli, who went on to compete in WWE Tough Enough.
Christopher Amann, a wrestling doctor, filed a lawsuit against Colton and Phillip Brooks (CM Punk) in February 2015 for remarks made during a November 2014 episode of the podcast. Amann was seeking $4 million in compensation and an undisclosed amount in punitive damages. The trial was heard in 2018, where a jury ruled in favour of Colton and Brooks.
In August 2018, Colton filed a lawsuit against Brooks alleging mistalignation and fraud as a result of Brooks' suspected bargaining deal, but later refusing to pay Colton's legal fees for the Amann suit. Colton sought $200,000 in damages and an additional $1 million in punitive damages. The following June, Brooks filed a countersuit against Colton for $600,000 plus additional charges. In September 2019, both cases were settled and dismissed. The deal, according to PWInsider, was not paid for.
Professional wrestling career
Scott Colton was brought up by Ace Steel, Danny Dominion, and Kevin Quinn, along with Phil Brooks (CM Punk). Colt Cabana, the CM Punk's rival, before joining Steel and Punk as the Second City Saints, he broke into Ring of Honor. Cabana and Punk later became ROH Tag Team Champions. Cabana and Austin Aries feuded over Nigel McGuinness as Punk became a singles celebrity. Cabana defeated Punk in a two out of three falls match in Chicago on August 13, 2005, in what was supposed to be Punk's last ROH match before heading to World Wrestling Entertainment.
Cabana was involved in a Homicide dispute between August 2005 and 2006, which culminated in Cabana being strangled with a metal coat hanger, leaking from multiple chair shots, being pushed down from a table, and finally seeing his head crushed against a ladder. Cabana's revenge and respect for Homicide came after a Chicago Street Fight, which culminated in the confrontation ending with a handshake and an embrace on April 1, 2006.
Colt Cabana defeated Homicide by a narrow margin at his 100th show on April 22, 2006 in Philadelphia, despite losing by a narrow margin. Danielson was defeated in less than five minutes by him. Cabana rededicated himself after feeling that he lost the match because he had spent the past eight months "brawling" rather than wrestling. On June 24, he eventually won a rematch against Danielson at Chi-Town Struggle, but he lost once more. On August 26, Cabana took one last shot against Danielson in the ROH World Championship. In a two-out-of-three falls match, the two wrestlers were down to a 60-minute time limit draw.
Cabana was involved in a car accident in October 2006 with fellow Ring of Honor actor Adam Pearce and Dave Prazak. Cabana was driving home from a Ring of Honor function in Dayton, Ohio, when he lost control of their vehicle due to the weather. The vehicle was ruined, but everybody was wearing seat belts, which saved their lives. Cabana had to have a toe amputated, but it was only bruised that it was announced. Despite the illness, Cabana took on Chicago Ridge, Illinois, the next night. Pearce and Prazak also walked away with only bruises.
Colton had signed a WWE developmental deal and was set to begin serving for their developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling, on April 3, 2007. Great Memories (named in his honour) was held in Chicago on April 28 against long-time friend and fellow Chicago wrestler Adam Pearce.
Colton went on extensive tours of Europe between 2004 and 2005, but mainly England, 2005. In a European rounds style match with World of Sport journeyman Johnny Kidd, he was named Match of the Year. In early 2005, Cabana did a short tour of Puerto Rico for IWA PR. Cabana became a well-known wrestler in the British promotion 1 Pro Wrestling (1PW), often teaming up with Darren Burridge as Team SHAG (Streeet Hooligans Adventure Gang). Team SHAG won the 1PW Tag Team Championship in a three-way ladder match against defending champion Jody Fleisch and Chris Hamrick, as well as the Southern Comfort team of Tracey Smothers and Chris Hamrick during 1PW's first anniversary.
Cabana made his Japanese debut for Zero 1 Max in 2006. He formed the P Force Men, a male counterpart who wore all pink outfits, during a later tour. Colt has also competed for Ireland's Irish Whip Wrestling, Austria's Rings of Europe, and various Montreal and Toronto Canadian independents. On April 6, 2007, Colton's last European appearance as an independent wrestler was recorded at 1PWW, where he and fellow Team SHAG member Darren Burridge successfully defended the 1PW Tag Team Championship against Doug Williams and Nigel McGuinness before officially retiring his half of the sport.
In November 2006, Colton taped several matches for Wrestling Society X (WSX), a wrestling series on MTV. He competed under the name Matt Classic, which is a throwback to the wrestlers of the 1950s and 1960s. Finishers were used by his gimmick in "old school" moves such as the skull vice and abdominal stretch. His WSX profile listed him as having won the Heavyweight Championship in 1952 (28 years before he was born) to further improve his gimmick as an old school wrestler.

Colton had signed a WWE deal on April 3, 2007. He was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling, their cultural territory, and made his television debut on May 30. Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana wrestles as Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana, he lost to Michael W. Kruel in the first round of a tournament on June 8 to determine the opponent against The Miz. On June 23, he won his first match in OVW as he coerced the Belgium Brawler to submit with the Chicago Crab. Cabana was involved in the OVW Television Championship picture after helping Al Snow regained his role as the OVW Troubleshooter from Kruel, defeating champion Shawn Spears by count-out on August 11. Cabana came close to winning the title twice, but had to be disqualified due to the television time limit expiring. Cabana defeated Spears in the OVW Television competition on October 31, 2007. Cabana was moved to FCW as the WWE developmental territory when OVW was replaced by Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW).
Colton made his SmackDown debut as Scotty Goldman, losing to Brian Kendrick on August 15, 2008. On the August 22 episode of SmackDown, Colton was involved in a 10-man royal battle to determine a qualifier for the WWE Championship scramble match at Unforgiven, but Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder dismissed him. His last singles match on SmackDown was a quick loss against The Great Khali. What's Crackin'?, a show starring Colton, premiered on WWE.com, and then renamed Good as Goldman on January 14, 2009. Colton appeared on television for the first time in five months, but was disqualified first in a Elimination Chamber qualifying fight royal on February 6, 2009. Colton returned to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla at Express Written Consent on February 21, 2009, where he defeated Chris Hero for the PWG World Championship in a 3-way match that also included Human Tornado. Hero was able to hold his belt by winning Tornado and then gave Cabana a 1-on-1 shot at the belt. Heroes were able to keep their titles at PWG's centennial show on April 12 in which Hero was able to keep his position. In a classic comedy match, Loca Vida defeated him on March 14, 2009 in Binghamton, NY. On March 20, 2009, he competed for Firestorm Pro Wrestling in Cleveland, winning in a match against J-rocc, which he had defeated. On March 21, 2009, he made his surprise return to ROH on March 21, 2009. He teamed up with Bryan Danielson to defeat Bison Smith and Jimmy Rave, who were also returning to ROH, in a tag team match at the 7th Anniversary Show. Cabana attempted a ROH World Championship shot against Jerry Lynn on April 25, but failed. Cabana made her debut on Ring of Honor Wrestling, ROH's television show, on June 6, teaming with Brent Albright. Austin Aries defended his ROH World Championship against Cabana in a steel cage match on December 5, and Cabana will never challenge for the title in his hometown.
Colton was set to compete in the 2010 King of Trios tournament in late April, under his Matt Classic persona, teaming up with Dasher Hatfield and Sugar Dunkerton as the Throwbacks on February 25, 2010. Classic, Hatfield, and Dunkerton were disqualified in the first round of the tournament by the reigning King of Trios champions F.I.S.T. (Chuck Taylor, Icarus, Gran Akuma) Cabana made his Australian debut on April 30, 2010. Cabana was the NHPW Global Conflict Shield champion after winning a two-day tournament to become the NHPW World Conflict Shield champion. The tournament was held in Perth, Australia. In the finals, he beat Balls Mahoney. Colton won the RCW World Heavyweight Championship from Hank Calhoun on October 23, 2010. He has been working with El Generico in his rivalry with Kevin Steen and Steve Corino. Cabana beat Corino in a "I Quit" match in Chicago Ridge on October 16, 2010, putting an end to their feud. Colton, wearing his Colt Cabana persona, wrestled in a dark match in which he defeated Puma at the tapings of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's weekly television show Impact! on September 22, where he defeated Puma.
At the NWA World Heavyweight Championship from Adam Pearce on March 6, 2011, Colton (as Cabana) defeated him in the NWA Championship Wrestling Championship from Hollywood television tapings. In Jacksonville, Florida, he lost the championship to The Sheik on April 23, 2011. In a World Heavyweight Championship defense against NWA RPW Heavyweight Champion J-Rod, Cabana debuted for NWA Rampage on March 19 in a World Heavyweight Championship defense. Due to Hot Like Lava's interference, the match came to a no-contest. Cabana & JRod teamed up afterward to defeat Hot Like Lava. Cabana launched a new rivalry with House of Truth members Christopher Daniels, Michael Elgin, Roderick Strong, and Truth Martini on April 2 during the second night of ROH's Honor Takes Center Stage pay-per-view. Colton, the 2011 King of Trios, rejoined Chikara as the Throwbacks on April 15, completing the team's effort with Dasher Hatfield and Sugar Dunkerton. Team Osaka Pro (Atsushi Kotoge, Daisuke Harada, and Ultimate Spider Jr.) had the team eliminated in the first round of the first round. At Juggalo Championship Wrestling's event Above the Law, Cabana (as Officer Colt Cabana) defeated 2 Tuff Tony to win the JCW World Heavyweight Champion. At the following competition, he lost the championship to Corporal Robinson. Cabana lost to Wade Barrett in a gruesome match for WWE on August 2. Cabana was selected out of Ring of Honor World champion Davey Richards in Carrollton, Georgia, as part of the 2011 Wrestling Legends Fanfest Weekend celebrations. Cabana defeated Wrestlezone in Aberdeen, Scotland, losing a tag team championship match to the other team. Colt appeared at the inaugural show for Preston City Wrestling on August 26, 2011, teaming up with Darren Burridge as Team SHAG. Cabana made a surprise appearance at All Pro Wrestling's Halloween Hell XIV event in Hayward, California, defeating Rik Luxury's open challenge to answer Luxury's open challenge. After Colt Cabunny, a character that is essentially a parody of Cabana, defeated Archibald Peck, who won, he defeated him on November 13. Cabana and Peck then joined Chikara's next iPPV, Chikara Rex, Hatch a Dinosaur, where they were defeated by the Throwbacks (Dasher Hatfield and Mark Angelosetti).
Cabana appeared on the debut show of London-based promotion Progress Wrestling in a losing proposition to Loco Mike Mason in March 2012. Cabana defeated Adam Pearce for the second time on April 8, 2012, defeating him for the second time. On July 21, he re-lost the title to Pearce. Cabana partnered with Eddie Edwards in 2012 to compete in World Tag League 2012, winning five points but not much more. Colton, Dasher Hatfield, and Mark Angelosetti entered the 2012 King of Trios on September 14, 2012, losing to Team JWP (Command Bolshoi, Kaori Yoneyama, and Tsuba Kuragaki) in their first round match. Colton won a seven match series against Adam Pearce on October 27, resulting in Pearce's withdrawal from the NWA World Championships.
Cabana returned to ROH on April 1, 2016, confronting and challenging ROH World Champion Jay Lethal. On May 8 at Global Wars, Cabana fired his championship shot against Lethal but the game came to a no contest after Bullet Club took the ring. Caprice Coleman, Keith Lee, and War Machine (Hanson and Raymond Rowe) defeated The All Night Express in a Four Corner Survival tag team match for the ROH World Tag Team Championships on September 30, which was the first contendership to the ROH World Tag Team Championship. One Cabana defeated Mark Briscoe on October 14, and Glory By Honor XVIII night was held on Saturday. Cabana and Castle were on Team ROH All-Stars with The Briscoes (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) and Dalton Castle against Team ROH Champions (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) in an eight-man elimination tag team match that ended in a no-contest because Cabana and Castle challenged Matt and Nick Jackson to a ROH World Tag Team Championship match in which they were defeated. Colt Cabana turned heel on ROH's television show on November 19, 2016, destroying Dalton Castle and splitting up his tag team. Dalton Castle defeated Cabana at the Final Battle Cabana was defeated by Dalton Castle.
Cabana was a commentator for Ring of Honor on January 1, 2017, replacing Nigel McGuinness (while also wrestling). Cabana was defeated Chris Sabin on January 7 in Ring of Honor Wrestling, with the help of The Boys. In a 1 on 2 Handicap Match, Ring of Honor Cabana defeated The Boys on February 18, episode of Ring of Honor Cabana. Mayhem VI Cabana lost his rematch with Dalton Castle on March 4, which was a surprise.
Where the winners met each other in a thrilling four number one contender match for the ROH World Championship, on April 15th episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling Cabana, he was involved with Bobby Fish, Lio Rush, and Hanson as a result of Jay Lethal's accident.
Cabana defeated Dalton Castle and the Boys for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship on August 13, partnering with The Tempura Boyz (Sho & Yohei) in an unsuccessful attempt to win the championship on August 20. Cabana shook hands with Castle and the Boys after the match, turning him face. Colt's role as a color commentator alongside Ian Riccaboni made him more popular. Colt Cabana won the NWA National Heavyweight Championship from Willie Mack at the 2019 Crockett Cup. He lost the championship to James Storm on June 29, 2019, but regained it after winning the championship on NWA Power. In a triple threat match involving Ricky Starks of NWA Into the Fire, he lost the title to Aron Stevens.
He appeared as a judge at Supercard of Honor XV for ROH Pure Championship in 2022. Cabana defeated Anthony Henry in the pre-show on July 23, 2022, before being dishonor (2022).
Cabana and a number of other ROH performers attended Honor Rising: Japan, which took place in Korakuen Hall on February 22, 2019. They met Ryusuke Taguchi, Toru Yano, and Togi Makabe for the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship Championship, but in a losing effort. On Day 2 of Honor Rising: Japan, Cabana, Toru Yano, and Triumph were victorious in a match against Cheeseburger and Delirious. Although the ROH talent returned home after Honor Rising: Japan, Cabana will remain in Japan. He was confirmed as one of the 32 participants of the New Japan Cup on February 25, 2019. Cabana announced on March 8, 2019 that he would miss his official NJPW debut Cabana in the quarter-finals by Sanada, and Cabana confirmed that he had completed the tour on March 8, 2019.
Cabana has been signed to the promotion after making multiple appearances for All Elite Wrestling since 2019, it was confirmed in February 2020. On February 29, 2020, he made a surprise appearance at the Revolution, adamantly condemning The Dark Order.
Cabana made his guest commentator debut at AEW Dynamite on April 1, 2020, alongside play-by-play commentator Tony Schiavone.
Cabana started losing streak in May as Brodie Lee tried to recruit him into The Dark Order. After Cabana's death to Sammy Guevara, Lee came out to assist Cabana and show him a spot in the Dark Order on June 10 episode. Cabana was seen heading into Lee's office later that night. Cabana was sent an envelope by Lee this week, announcing that they will work together against Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss. After Cabana pinned Janela, Cabana and Lee would defeat Janela and Kiss. Cabana enjoyed a winning streak when working with members of the Dark Order over the next few weeks as he was gradually recruited into the group over time, thus slowly turning heel.
Following Brodie Lee's death, Cabana, and the remainder of The Dark Order, the young actor turned into babyfaces. Cabana teamed with The Young Bucks to defeat Matt Hardy and Private Party at the Brodie Lee Celebration of Life memorial exhibition, securing the pinfall victory.
