Early life

Coleen Patricia Nolan was born in Blackpool, England, on March 12, 1965. She is the youngest of eight children and the first one to be born in England.

Personal life

Nolan married Shane Richie in 1990, and the couple had two sons before splitting up in 1997 and divorcing in 1999.

On her 40th birthday in 2005, she gave birth to a daughter, Ciara, on June 19th, 2001, and then became engaged to her longtime boyfriend Ray Fensome (a Leeds musician) on her 40th birthday. They married in November 2007. After two years of marital struggles, Nolan revealed on Friday that she and Fensome were getting divorced on February 6, 2018. Nolan said that the divorce was finalized in mid-December 2018, and that she and Fensome have been friends with each other since the separation.

Maureena's mother died of Alzheimer's. On the Fylde coast, Nolan opened the first Alzheimer's Society information center in 2006. Maureen died on December 30, 2007.

Nolan has made controversial remarks and shared views that some have deemed offensive.

Loose Women's 2005 said that if her 16-year-old son passed his exams, she would pay for him to go to Amsterdam and that she had offered her fiancé Ray Fensome permission to have a one-night stand during the tour. Shane Richie, who said she was "disgusted and appalled" by her comments about their son, and that he wished and assumed "it was said in full jeopardy," she wrote. However, Nolan defended her remarks with dismissal, saying that she had warned her son that she would spend a long weekend for him somewhere in the world and that she and his mates had always wanted to go to Amsterdam to see the red light district. Even though he would clearly have unprotected sex with a number of girls, he would have thought that was fine. "I'd never condone my son's sleeping with hookers in an ideal world," she wrote in the News of Life, but it's a fact of life that boys of his age have casual sex. If I'm pushed, I'd rather he do it somewhere safe and where the girls' health checks are run than behind the club's wall in Ibiza with absolutely no safeguards." "I couldn't care less [if she did]," she said in relation to Ray Fensome's invitation to have a one-night stand." The thought of Ray going into a bar, having sex with her, spending the night, and awakening with her the next morning is what bothers me more. I couldn't cope with that."

Nolan said in January 2007 that gay people should not be allowed to adopt children, and that "there's only so much I want to hear."

She compared gay rights to ISIS-support in May 2015 and said that bakery owners should be allowed to discriminate against same-sex couples who want to buy a wedding cake. Loose Women, a Belfast bakery company that was successfully sued for refusing to bake a cake in favor of same-sex marriages, was praised by her mother. Following the show, some viewers took to Twitter and demanded that Nolan be dismissed for making the remark.

Linda Nolan, Janet Street-Porter, and Linda Robson, three Loose Women panelists, causing controversies in August 2018 after the topic of child abuse emerged. Woodburn and Nolan had a sour relationship on film thanks to remarks and assertions made from both sides of the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2017. Woodburn had been invited to join Nolan in the show to reconcile with Nolan, but later reported that it was due to the funds. Over 8,000 reports were submitted to Ofcom, with the majority accusing Nolan and her fellow panelists of 'bullying Woodburn.' Some of Woodburn's allies even ran for a motion to have Nolan removed from the Loose Women panel completely from the Loose Women panel entirely. On This Morning in September 2018, she apologised and revealed that she had taken a break from Loose Women and that her 'Never Too Late' solo concert tour was postponed. In December 2018, Loose Women was reunited.
