Kim Chung-ha (Korean) (born Kim Chan-mi []; Hanja: born Kim Chan-mi []; Chungha (stylized as CHUNG HA) is a South Korean pop singer, dancer, and choreographer working under MNH Entertainment. Produce 101, Mnet's girl group survival competition, placed her fourth, becoming a member of the resulting girl group I.O.I. Chungha debuted as a solo artist in the extended play Hands on Me after I.O.I's dissolution in 2017.

Early life

Kim Chan-mi () was born in Seoul on February 9, 1996. Annie Kim, an English girl, lived in Dallas, Texas, for eight years before returning to South Korea to become a singer. As a result, she can converse both English and Korean. She graduated from Sejong University, majoring in dance. She auditioned for YG Entertainment and was a JYP Entertainment intern before joining MNH Entertainment. Kim studied for three years before making her debut, and she had been dancing for 6–7 years. She admitted that she had almost stopped attending dance lessons due to financial constraints at the time.

Kim appeared on MNH Entertainment's reality girl group survival show Produce 101 from January 22 to April 1. With the mini-album Chrysalis, she finished fourth and debuted on May 4 with the project girl group I.O.I. Chungha was one of the seven members of the company's unit group and was set to debut their second single, "Whatta Man," in the summer of 2016. Three teams were hired to do the choreography for the single, but hers were chosen because it was considered to be the best in class. The single was a commercial success, peaking at number 2 on the Gaon Digital Chart and in the Gaon Album Chart for its digital (downloads and streaming) and physical sales respectively.

Chungha and colleague Lim Na-young were announced on June 30, and groupmate Chungha would appear on Korean drama Entourage on Korean drama Entourage. On July 24, she was confirmed to be a new cast member of Hit The Stage, a dance survival show. Chungha's "Flower, Wind and You," a digital single by Boi B., was announced on August 17 by groupmates Choi Yoo-jung, Jeon So-mi, and DIA's Ki Hui-hyeon. On MBK Entertainment's YouTube channel, the music video was posted. MNH Entertainment revealed on December 21 that after wrapping up I.O.I's promotions, she would debut as a solo artist in the beginning of 2017. Chungha participated in the holiday carol "Snow in This Year," that was featured on the Korean drama, My Fair Lady on December 23, 1993.

Chungha was chosen to be a host for EBS' Ah! on January 10, 2017. A running miracle on Sunday. Chungha will show the world how to improve their physical fitness by jogging and that she will bring a team of challengers under her banner for the event. On April 21, she unveiled her pre-debut single "Week" on the official M&H Entertainment YouTube channel, followed by Hands on Me, her debut EP, "Why Don't You Know" on June 7. Chungha appeared in Samuel Kim's solo debut album, Sixteen, alongside the song "With Us" and "La La La La" in Babylon's single. She took over Kisum as a DJ for EBS' radio show Listen, and on September 19, she revealed that she and Super Junior's Please Take Care of My Vanity were MCs for FashionN's Please Take Care of My Vanity. On November 22, the first episode of her own reality show, Chungha's Free Month, was broadcast on YouTube and NaverTV.

Offset is Chungha's second extended play Offset was released on January 17, 2018. The EP features five tracks, including the title track "Roller Coaster." MNH Entertainment announced on June 26 that she would be back with her third mini-album titled Blooming Blue on July 18, with "Love U" as the lead single. In October of the same year, Chungha became the ambassador for the Seoul International Architecture Film Festival. On August 8, it was announced that she would join the project group containing Seulgi, Soyeon, and GFriend's SinB, a division of Red Velvet. SM Entertainment's Project Album SM Station X 0. At the 2019 Gaon Chart Music Awards, Chungha was named Producer of the Year and Hot Performance Award of the Year for her efforts in 2019. Billboard released their list of the "Best K-pop Songs of the Year 2019" on December 12, 2019, with Chungha's single "Gotta Go" ranked at number three on the list. "Chungha is completely embraceing her best, more confident side," Billboard said; one that has remained consistent throughout her major year and may help guide her to even higher heights in the coming decade. The album was also ranked 100th on Billboard's "The 100 Greatest K-Pop Songs of the 2010s" list.

Chungha worked with Paul Kim on the single "Loveship" in January 2020, which was first announced on January 21, 2020. Dr. Leo Varadkar, a female actress from SBS' Dr. Judith Wood, was included in the soundtrack collection. "My Love" by Romantic 2 will be released on February 4, 2020. "Everybody Has" is Chungha's first appearance in 2020 as part of MNH Entertainment's New.wav initiative. MNH Entertainment reported on March 10 that Chungha had contracted with American firm ICM Partners for her America and global campaigns.

Chungha performed "Lie" with TVXQ singer Max Changmin in April. The song was included on Changmin's debut extended play Chocolate, as well as explorations of the emotions shared between lovers who feel love in various intensities. "Stay Tonight" was released as a pre-release single from the singer's forthcoming album on April 27. The song debuted and peaked at number 9 on the Gaon Digital Chart, and peaked at number 4 on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart, peaking at number nine on the Gaon Digital Chart and peaking at number 9 on the Gaon Digital Chart.
