A manicure with her 'inseparable' best pal and how Sheridan Smith is coping after her comeback West End show was axed

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 14, 2024
It was the morning after Sheridan Smith learned the heartbreaking news that her much-heralded 'comeback' theatre show was to come to an end much earlier than planned, writes KATIE HIND. Dressed head-to-toe in black, the star appeared downcast on Friday as she tried to buoy her spirits with a girlie trip to her local nail bar for a manicure with fellow actress Charley Webb. It was just hours after it had been announced that the beleaguered production of Opening Night in London's West End would be cut short by more than two months after theatregoers walked out of the show in droves. For the actress, the decision was a 'huge blow', says a friend, despite the blame being widely put on the production rather than her performance. While Sheridan, 42, failed to crack a smile, The Mail on Sunday can reveal how Charley has been Sheridan's 'rock' as the curtain comes down on the play about which she was so excited.

Bewildered audience members whisper 'I don't get it' to each other during interval of Sheridan Smith's under-fire West End play - after one tired theatregoer nodded off before being abruptly woken by star's loud singing

Bewildered audience members whispered 'I don't get it' to each other during the interval of Sheridan Smith's under-fire West End play this evening, as they turned up despite its cancellation two-months early after poor reviews. One tired theatregoer even nodded off in the first half of the show, as his head slowly lowered before he was abruptly woken by Sheridan Smith's loud singing. This comes after defiant fans insisted she will 'bounce back' as they turned up to watch her musical, Opening Night, after at was announced the run at the Gielgud Theatre in London will end on Saturday May 18, two months earlier than originally planned on July 27.
