Briggs Life

Adam Briggs (born 28 August 1986) is an Indigenous Australian rapper, record label owner, comedy writer, and actor.

Briggs became well-known as a solo rapper after signing with Golden Era Records in 2009 before co-founding the hip hop duo A.B.

Briggs also produced one EP, Homemade Bombs in 2009, and two albums, 2010's The Blacklist and 2014's Sheplife.

He has appeared on recordings with Hilltop Hoods, the Funkoars, Drapht, and The Last Kinection.

He has worked with international artists such as Ice Cube, KRS-One, Necro, Ghostface Killah, Dilated Peoples, M.O.P., and Pharoahe Monch in the live arena.

Briggs formed Bad Apples Music, which has signed numerous Indigenous hip-hop artists and houses A.B.

Originally, a joint project with Trials from the Funkoars. Briggs has appeared in numerous television series on ABC, including Maliyan in the drama series Cleverman in the same year; and became a regular cast member of ABC's News satire program The Weekly with Charlie Pickering in 2017.

Early life

Briggs is an Aboriginal of the Yorta Yorta people, and his tribe name is tattooed on his forearms. His father was from Cummeragunja. In an interview with G&T magazine, he said that the tattoo's intended is to "so every time I rock the mic people know who I am representing."

Briggs and his family grew up in Shepparton, a small city in rural Victoria, Australia.

Briggs played guitar in a punk band for a brief period before being involved with hip hop. He also served as a security guard at Shepparton's Yahoo Bar bar. Briggs explained in a December 2013 interview that making a name for himself in Shepparton was not difficult, and that the area was actually a reminder of the larger world that was not open to him and the perseverance needed to become involved with a more vibrant music scene.

Personal life

Briggs returned to Shepparton, Melbourne, after his time as a Melbourne resident. "I like being back home, with all my cousins and my friends, who I grew up with," Briggs said. Briggs moved to Melbourne for the second time in 2014 and gave us more insight into Shepparton's life after the move:

Briggs welcomed Kora, her daughter, in May 2012, and said in November 2014 that he aspires for "a better Australia and a happier world for my daughter."

Briggs said in a February 2014 interview that he is estranged from his daughter's mother and that he uses the term "spinning plates" to describe the process of balancing work and family life. Briggs also recalled his traumatic experience of parenthood, in which he is both educated and vulnerable.
