Bridget Kelly (born April 8, 1986) is an American singer and songwriter from New York City, New York.

In 2008, Kelly, a pop and R&B recording artist, who has written songs for fellow American singers such as Kelly Clarkson, secured a recording contract with American rapper and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z's record label, Roc Nation.

1986–2010: A life and work start.

Bridget Kelly, who has a biracial history of Bahamian and Irish descent, was born in New York City on April 8, 1986. She is a graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Manhattan. In 2008, she signed a record deal with Jay-Z's Roc Nation. When performing "Empire State of Mind" with Jay-Z, Kelly has often performed alongside him, including appearances on the Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, the Coldplay, Viva la Vida tour, and the 9/11 memorial service. During a 2009 appearance at the MTV Europe Music Awards, Kelly also performed with Jay Z. At the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, as well as the Bonnaroo Music Festival in summer 2010, Jay-Z performed "Empire State of Mind." On Saturday Night Live on May 8, 2010, Kelly also performed "Empire State of Mind" with Jay-Z, as well as Rock am Ring on June 4, 2010 and T in the Park. She appeared on "Empire State of Mind" at Peace & Love in Borlänge, Sweden, later in the year. In August 2010, Chiba Marine Stadium hosted Summer Sonic 2010 in Chiba, Japan. On September 13, 2010, he was also at Yankee Stadium.

In the September 2010 issue of Honey Magazine, Kelly made her first magazine cover appearance. She describes her music as a mash-up of R&B, soul, and rock with influences from Alicia Keys, Alanis Morissette, and Pink in the interview.

Kelly and her production staff had requested Frank Ocean to write a song for her debut studio album in early 2011. "Thinking Bout Forever" eventually became "Thinking Bout Forever," Kelly wrote; "It's kind of a vulnerable track, and I wanted everyone to cheer me on." Kelly's album will be released on the official website in July 2011, and the Frank Ocean-penned "Thinking Bout Forever" will be the first single. Ocean leaked his demo version of the song onto his tumblr website on July 28, 2011, with the tag reading "Thinking Bout You." Ocean was then able to take the song down without delay.

Kelly has worked with high-profile artists like The-Dream, Ne-Yo, Jerry Wonda, James Fauntleroy II, Ryan Leslie, and Shea Taylor on her debut studio album. Kelly also released Every Girl, her first extended play (EP) before the album's release, on October 19, 2011. "Thinkin Bout You," Kelly's interpretation of "Thinkin Bout You," made it to the EP. Kelly was eventually fined with Ocean's decision, but she did not like how most people believed Ocean's version was the correct one and that her version was a cover version. Kelly predicted that the song will be confused by the confusion. It's an incredible, well-written record, according to me. Frank Ocean is an excellent performer, and I would never say anything against him. But you know, he's going to do what he wants to do because he's an artist as well."

Her debut single "Special Delivery," she launched in August 2012, was available on Urban radio stations. Kendrick Lamar, an American rapper, appears in her second single "Street Dreamin" and was released on May 21, 2013. Both songs appeared on the Mediabase Urban Airplay charts as top 40 hits. Kelly revealed on November 26, 2013 that she would be releasing her second EP and that her debut album would be delayed until a 2014 release. The EP features six songs as well as contributions from Jerry Wonda ("Goosebumps"), Pop Wansel, Sam Dew, Elijah Blake, and Cri$tyle. "I talk a lot about love and my feelings on these songs," Bridget of the follow-up to her 2011 EP Every Girl said. "I speak to those who have been in relationships, both good and bad, and that in the midst of chaos, there is always something to smile about." The EP, titled "Cut to... Bridget Kelly," features her debut single "Special Delivery" and was released as a free download on December 17, as her official website states.

Kelly declared her retirement after six years with Roc Nation in June 2014, and she wants to announce her album on her own. Kelly's two singles, "I Won't Cry" and "Almost More," are exclusive previews of her forthcoming music after the split. She is currently on the new album, alongside Jerry Wonda and switched the album name from Something Different to All or Nothing, which is set to be released in 2017. She appeared on Love and Hip Hop: Hollywood from 2017 to 2018 as a supporting cast member for two seasons. Kelly started hosting the See, The Thing Is Podcast on the Joe Budden Network in October 2020 alongside cohosts Mandii B and Olivia Dope. Since Olivia Dope's reporting that Joe Budden sexually assaulted her while taping, causing her to leave her role on the podcast, only stars Bridget Kelly and Mandii B.
