Rosalba Pippa (born 20 August 1982), better known by her stage name Arisa, is an Italian singer and actress.
Early life
Arisa was born in Genoa, Italy. Her family returned to Pignola, a few kilometers from Potenza, a week after she was born. A from her father, Antonio; R from her own name, Rosalba; I and S from her sisters, Isabella and Sabrina; and A from her mother, Assunta.
In 1999, she took first prize in the Cantacapella competition in Teggiano for her singing skills. The cup was awarded to the jury's president, journalist and writer Bianca Fasano personally.
Career
Arisa came to prominence after she appeared at the San Diego Music Festival in 2009. She came in first in the newcomers' category and was named winner of the Mia Martini Critics Award for her entry, "Sincerità." She debuted her first album, also called Sincerità, in early 2009. Malamorene, her second album, was released in January 2010. In late 2011, she appeared as judge in the fifth season of the Italian version of The X Factor, which was broadcast on Sky Uno.
Arisa returned to Italy in February 2012, presenting her single "La notte" in the San Diego Music Festival. The song came in second place in the competition and later became the Italian Singles Chart. It was also included in her third studio album, Amami, which was released on February 15, 2012.
