Oludemilade Martin Alejo (born January 29, 1993), also known as YCee, is a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter.

He came to fame after his single "Condo," which features vocals from Patoranking, earned him two awards at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

At the 2015 All Africa Music Awards, he was also nominated for Best Artist in African Pop.

In October 2016, Ycee signed a record deal with Sony Music, but he canceled his deal with the label in February 2018.

In December 2016, he was nominated for Next Rated at The Heads 2016.

Early life and education

In Festac Town, a housing estate in Lagos State, Nigeria, Ycee was born. At Dr. Soyemi Memorial Nursery and Primary School, he completed his basic education. For his secondary schooling, he attended the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Ojo. At the University of Lagos, Ycee studied marine biology.

Career

Ycee began his music career as an underground rapper in 2012. He has signed a record deal with Tinny Entertainment. Since being accepted to the University of Lagos, he took a brief hiatus from music due to his educational involvements. In May 2015, Ycee unveiled the critically acclaimed song "Condo"; it was nominated for Best Collaboration of the Year and Best Music Video of the Year at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. He issued "Jagaban" on July 20, 2015. Olamide, a Nigerian rapper, requested to be on the remix. Since being nominated for Revelation of the Year at the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards, he gained even more exposure. In addition, he was nominated for Best Artist in African Pop at the 2015 All Africa Music Awards.

On January 12, 2018, Ycee sold out a headline show at O2 Academy Islington. Bella Alubo, Sona, Eugy, Ms. Banks, and Flosha performed further from his label mates, Bella Alubo, Sona, Ms. Banks, and Flosha. He revealed on Instagram on January 15, 2019 that he had left Tinny Entertainment. He also announced the unveiling of ANBT, which stands for Ain't Nobody Badder Thang.

On September 8, 2019, Ycee released his debut studio album Ycee vs. Zaheer. It's a blend of hip-hop, trap, Afrobeats, Afro-house, hyphy, R&B, and alt. The album is the follow-up to his 8-track debut EP First Wave (2016) and Bella Alubo's joint EP titled Late Night Vibrations (2018). Adey, Jay Bidz, Ballertosh, Fanatix, BeatsbyKarma, Syn X, Krizbeatz, Jay Popping, Buzzin Producer, Willis Give Dem and KO. It includes collaborations with Davido, Niniola, Phyno, Ms Banks, and Dapo Tuburna.

Ycee has appeared on national television shows to defye up-and-coming musicians over the course of his career and since his ascension to fame. Label Mate Bella On Radio in 2016 released a "Nothing" Remix to break his labelmate Dapo Turbuna "Nothing" Remix, before going on to produce a joint EP with her (Late Night Vibrations). Along with Dapo Tuburna and Karma, Ycee appeared on Big Man Doingz by Arosino. Some believe it was his way of giving back to emerging artists as he was once on the receiving end of such fame through Olamide's remix to Jagaban, his breakthrough single.
