Early life
Dexter Tiewon Gore Jr. was born in Manhattan, New York City's Harlem neighborhood, but he had since relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where he was raised in the city's Englewood neighborhood on the South Side. After the death of his mother in September 2014, he decided to pursue music. He tattooed a pink ribbon on his face in 2016 to honor his mother, who died of breast cancer.
Career
Never Seen It Coming, he self-released his first mixtape in 2015. Dexter's Laboratory, his second mixtape, dexter's Laboratory, was released later this year (not to be confused with the animated television series of the same name).
Gore's third and fourth mixtapes, Drippy and #OhMannGoddDamn, were released in early 2016.
Gore revealed in March 2016 that he had officially signed Rich Forever Music, Rich the Kid's company. Rich Forever, Gore and Rich's joint venture, was revealed shortly thereafter. Three sequels followed, with the third starring Rich Forever newcomer Jay Critch. Gore appeared in "Draco," a Soulja Boy music video from October 2016.
Gore revealed the name of his debut album, Dex Meets Dexter, in March 2017. On April 6, 2018, the album was released.
"Pick It Up" was his first single from the album, peaking at number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October 2017, becoming his first song to chart. On March 16, 2018, the album's second single, "Japan," was released. He released the single "Light" starring the Drax Project on March 30, 2018.
On September 21, 2018, the single "Nervous" starring Lil Baby, Jay Critch, and Rich The Kid was released.
Lil Gotit appeared in the single "Fully Loaded" on May 8, 2019. Later today, a music video was released. Gore appeared on Rich Forever Music's compilation album, Rich Forever 4, which was released on August 2, 2019 and featured new artists signed to the label.
During a West Hollywood, California, Gore experienced an epileptic seizure on November 1, 2019. Later, a spokesperson reported that he was recuperating.
Dexter 2031, Gore's EP, debuted on SoundCloud on December 31, 2019. On April 3, 2020, Tyga and Rich the Kid's single "What I Like" was released. With Fivio Foreign, he released the single "Couped Out" on July 23. He dropped the single "Hold On" in August 2020. He unveiled Diana on October 9, the album was released.
Gore was in a rehabilitation facility in January 2021, according to Rich the Kid.
