Club career
Sagbo was born in Marseille, France, and began his football career with his hometown team, SC Air Bel, in Marseille, before moving to Monaco in 2004. He was a member of Monaco's 07–08 CFA team, which won the reserve's professional title (a competition that is reserved for the professional clubs reserves playing in the CFA) with a total score of 13 goals in 25 matches. Following the start of the season on May 13, 2008, he signed his first professional contract, committing to a three-year deal that kept him at the club until 2011.
In July 2008, he was officially drafted into the first-team squad for the pre-season, where he was given the number 9 kit. Sagbo made three appearances in the pre-season, including their first friendly match against Croatian side NK Zagreb and Olympique Marseille. In a 0–1 loss to Olympique Lyonnais on November 8, he made his professional debut on October 8, 2008, starting as a replacement playing 17 minutes.
Sagbo signed a two-year deal with Hull City in England's Premier League on July 26, 2013. In a 2–0 loss away at Chelsea, he made his Hull debut on the first day of the 2013-14 season. Sagbo was banned from playing at the KC Stadium on August 24, 2013. He scored his first goal in England on October 19, 2013, against Everton in a 2–1 loss after coming on as a replacement. He scored in Hull's first FA Cup semi-final defeat of Sheffield United at Wembley Stadium earlier this season; he had also scored an equalizer earlier in the game to prevent their expulsion. Sagbo was an unused replacement in the final, which Hull lost to Arsenal.
Sagbo appeared only once for Hull in a League Cup disaster at the start of the 2014–15 season. He joined Wolverham Wanderers in September 2014 for an emergency loan until three months, and he made his club debut against Huddersfield Town on October 1, 2014. However, after three brief substitute appearances, he fell out of first team contention, with manager Kenny Jackett blaming a lack of fitness and the player's absence during his appearances to "state a case for more [gametime]. He was recalled by Hull City two months before his loan was due to expires on November 13. Jackett later claimed that it had been a joint decision between the clubs. His deal came to an end in 2015, but Hull City decided not to renew it.
International career
On May 30, 2008, Sagbo was nominated for the Benin national team against Angola. In a friendly game at Upton Park on August 10, he made his Ivory Coast national team's debut against Italy. He came after Seydou Doumbia's 61 minutes of silence. The game was won by the Ivory Coast 1–0.
