Lewandowski, a former Dortmund teammate, scored the first goal of the tournament against Greece in Warsaw, Poland, after being named Man of the Match by then Dortmund teammate Jakub Baszczykowski. He appeared in all three games for Poland in the tournament, as the co-hosts fell out of the group stage with two points earned.

Lewandowski scored two goals in the 5–0 victory over San Marino on March 26, 2013, his first match as captain. In a 1–1 home draw, he scored the equalizer against Montenegro later in the season. In Brazil, Poland did not qualify for the 2014 World Cup.

Lewandowski scored his first international hat-trick in Poland's first UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier against Gibraltar on September 7, 2014, defeating him 7–0. In Poland's 4–0 victory over Georgia on June 13, he scored his second hat-trick, with the three goals scoring within four minutes. He scored twice in a 2–2 draw against Scotland on October 8th, opening and equalizing with the last kick of the game to disqualify the hosts. He was crowned the winner in a 2–1 victory over the Republic of Ireland, qualifying Poland for the tournament finals in France three days later. With David Healy's tally for Northern Ireland in UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying, Lewandowski finished the season with 13 goals, a joint European Championships qualifying record.

Lewandowski did not have a shot on target until the last-16 match against Switzerland in Saint-Étienne, who were aiming for UEFA Euro 2016 in France. Following the 1–1 draw, he scored his team's first attempt in the penalty shootout victory that sent them to the quarter-finals for the first time. He finished Kamil Grosicki's cross to open another 1-1 draw against Portugal in the 100th second round of the quarter-finals at the Stade Vélodrome, and the Poles lost. Lewandowski had more fouls at the time of Poland's disqualification than every other player in the tournament.

In a 6-1 victory over Armenia, Lewandowski recorded his hat-trick, bringing his total number for Poland to 49 goals, beating previous records of 48 goals set by Wodzimierz Lubaski to become Poland's all-time top scorer. Lewandowski scored a goal in a 4–2 victory over Montenegro on October 8, bringing his total number for Poland to 51 goals. He finished his 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign with 16 total goals, a record for a European World Cup qualifier.

Lewandowski was called up to the 23-man Polish squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. In all three matches, Lewandowski played every minute against Senegal, Colombia, and Japan. Lewandowski did not score a goal as Poland did not qualify for the knockout phase.

Lewandowski scored the equalizing goal in a 1–1 draw on June 1921, the first Polish player to score in three straight European Championships. In a 2–3 loss to Sweden on June 23, he scored a brace; in the meantime, Poland finished last in their group and was barred from the group stages.

Revealed: The two things that 'could persuade Xavi to make a shock U-turn and STAY at Barcelona'... as Spanish giants go 12-games unbeaten after victory over PSG

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 13, 2024
Barcelona boss Xavi could be persuaded to stay at Barcelona if two conditions are met, according to a report. The 44-year-old revealed in January that he would walk away from the club after two and a half years in charge following a difficult spell. He said at the time his decision would free up his players, and they will head into their LaLiga clash with lowly Cadiz on a 12-game unbeaten run in all competitions.
