Yannick Bolasie Career

Club career

Bolasie started his career with Rushden & Diamonds at the age of 16. He spent four months with the youth team before moving to Floriana in the Maltese Premier League. After being exposed to Plymouth Argyle and being highly impressed enough to be given a two-year deal, he returned to England in 2008. He appeared on Dagenham & Redbridge on trial with the intention of a loan transfer before returning to Rushden & Diamonds on loan at the end of the year. He made his debut against Eastbourne Borough on November 29th and made seven appearances in the Conference before returning to Argyle in January 2009. Bolasie made his Football League debut against Accrington Stanley on January 24, 2009, when he joined Barnet on loan. In a 3–3 draw against Grimsby Town, he scored his first goal two weeks earlier, opening the scoring.

Bolasie returned to Argyle at the end of the 2008-2009 season after making 20 league appearances for Barnet, scoring three goals. Ian Hendon, the club's manager, was eager to return Bolasie, but ruled out the possibility of permanently signing him. "Yannick is still under Plymouth contract," Hendon said, so it is likely that he will return there at the end of the season." In July 2009, he rejoined the Barnet squad on a six-month loan, and hoped that it would serve as a springboard to winning a spot in the Argyle first team. Bolasie scored against Grimsby in October 2009, capping a fine show with a brutal shot from 30 yards against Darlington three weeks later. Bolasie's side maintained a spot in the top half of the League Two table for the second time.

Bolasie played for Plymouth Argyle in January 2010, scoring twice. Paul Mariner, who had taken over Sturrock a month earlier, was given the opportunity to impress and was brought into the squad to face Barnsley on February 13, 2010. He scored his first goal for the club at Sheffield United two weeks later. The pacy winger finished the season with 16 Championship appearances to his name, but he couldn't prevent the club from being relegated to League One.
