William Charles Anthony Gaunt (born in Pudsey, Yorkshire) is an English actor.
Early life
Gaunt's father was a solicitor. Gaunt attended Giggleswick School and Baylor University, Texas, and later the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He spent three years in repertory theatre in Worthing, Bath, Salisbury, and Cheltenham, before returning to the United Kingdom for another year, albeit without an army tour.
He appeared in minor roles in 1960s series Z-Cars and The Avengers, as well as the Edgar Wallace Mysteries films The Sinister Man (1961) and Solo for Sparrow (1962), and finally in the 1968 British spy thriller/science fiction film The Champions. He appeared on "Flight Plan," an episode of The Saint, where he played an Osprey pilot. He had also appeared in Sergeant Cork as a detective investigating Victorian London policemen.
Personal life
Carolyn Lyster, a 1970s actress, was married by Gaunt on September 7th. They have a daughter, Matilda, and Albie, his son.
Later career
Arthur Crabtree, a bullied father, appeared on No Place Like Home between 1983 and 1987. He made several guest appearances in other series, including Juliet Bravo and in the Doctor Who two-part serial Revelation of the Daleks (1985). Gaunt appeared in the sitcom Next of Kin opposite Penelope Keith from 1995 to 1997. In 2010, he appeared in the Globe Theatre production of Shakespeare's Henry IV, Part 1. He appeared in the 2004 Doctor Who audio book Dalek Empire III. He appeared on the Channel 4 series Cast Offs.
He was seen in Episode One of the ITV drama Without You in December 2011. Gaunt appeared in Midsomer Murders as Ludo DeQuetteville in the episode "The Dark Rider," first broadcast on ITV1 on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. This is his second appearance in the series since playing Michael Bannerman in "The Maid in Splendour" in 2004. Gaunt appeared in six episodes of EastEnders in May 2015.
