Tabatha Coffey (born 17 May 1969) is an Australian hairstylist, salon owner, and television personality.

Her participation as a contestant on the television show Shear Genius led to her own fame in the US. She was given a television show, Tabatha Takes Over, which airs on the US cable television network Bravo.

In France it airs on 6ter's free channel and in Australia it airs on Foxtel's pay television network Arena as well as on Network Ten.

Personal life

Openly gay, Coffey has been in a relationship with her partner since 1997. She lives in Fort Lee, New Jersey.

Coffey, whose mother died of cancer in 2010, works with Hackensack University Medical Center cutting wigs for children with cancer. This commitment resulted in a partnership beginning in 2011 with St. Baldrick's Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises money for childhood cancer research by hosting worldwide head-shaving events.

Coffey, whose mother and brother were hairstylists, got her start in Surfers Paradise, Queensland, where she first began as an assistant in a local store at the age of 14. She has reported that her parents owned a strip joint in Adelaide, which fueled her interest in hair styling. She started a four-year apprenticeship program to learn more at 15. She then moved to London to continue her training for the next three years.

In Ridgewood, New Jersey, Coffey opened Industrie Hair Gurus, which is her own salon. She also styles clients at the Warren-Tricomi salon in West Hollywood. Her approach is transformative, creating a unique look for each individual, unlike other stylists who specialize in a certain style. Joico International, a hair care products firm, also works as a platform artist. She visits different countries 6–12 times a year for the company's hair shows. In an interview, she said, "My favorite thing is to do work with other professionals and teaching." "I love giving and receiving support from other professionals."

Coffey opened her Ridgewood, New Jersey, salon in 2011 as part of her stated desire to work and teach with other professionals.

She has appeared in beauty magazines as well as backstage in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. She works as an editorial stylist for leading fashion and beauty publications, including Seventeen, Marie Claire, and Mademoiselle.
