Suresh Wadkar (born 7 August 1955) is an Indian playback musician.
He appears in both Hindi and Marathi films.
In some Bhojpuri films, Odia albums, and bhajans, as well as in Konkani films, he has performed songs.
Early life and musical training
Wadkar was born in Kolhapur, India, in a middle-class family that then migrated to Girangaon. His father, Ishwar Wadkar, worked in cloth mills, and his mother cooked food for the mill workers. He wrestled at akhadas in youth and spent time with his father, who was also a wrestler, at Talwalkar gym.
Jialal Vasant encouraged him to work on the Prayag Sangit Samiti's "Prabhakar" certificate in 1968, which was equivalent to a BEd and qualifies the awardee to teach professionally. Wadkar completed his "Prabhakar" and joined Arya Vidya Mandir in Mumbai as a music tutor.

Wadkar is married to classical singer Padma, and the couple has two children, Ananya and Jiya.
Singing career
Wadkar was not trained for Indian classical music but entered the Sur-Singar competition in 1976. He received the award which was judged by writers from India's film industry, including Jaidev and Ravindra Jain. Ravindra Jain introduced him to playback singing, and Wadkar performed Sona Kare Jhilmil Vrishti Pade Tupur in the film Paheli (1977). In the film Gaman (1978), Jaidev gave him the song "Seene Mein Jalan."
Lata Mangeshkar was so impressed with his voice that she strongly recommended him to film stars including Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Khayyam, and Kalyanji-Anandji. "Chal Chameli Bagh Mein" for Krodhi (1981), Laxmikant-Pyarelal, impressed by his voice, sang of his voice, and Krodhi (1981). He was given the opportunity to perform in songs in Hum Paanch, Pyaasa Sawan ("Megha Re Megha Re"), but most importantly, he was given the opportunity to act in songs in films – Raj Kapoor's Prem Rog (1982). After that, Wadkar performed many songs under R. K. Banner, and he often performed for Rishi Kapoor in Heena, Prem Granth, Bol Radha Bol, Vijay, and others. In Ram Teri Ganga Maili, he also sang for Rajiv Kapoor. "Tomme Milke" from Parinda (1989), and "Aye Zindagi Gale Laga Le" from Sadma (1983), two of his most popular songs.
In the 2009 film Kanden Kadhalai, which is an English blockbuster version of Jab We Met's, Wadkar performed his first Tamil song. "Naan Mozhi Arindhaen" is a ghazal song.
He has performed several devotional songs in various Indian languages for several faiths, including many in the Swaminarayan Sampradaya.
Wadkar performed Channeache Rati among other songs on Rajendra Talak's Konkani album Darya Deger, which also stars Asha Bhosle.
