Stelio Savante Life

Stelio Savante (born April 24, 1970) is a South African-born New York actor.

He was the first male South African-born Screen Actor Guild award winner for his recurring role on Ugly Betty and also for his lead role in The Two Thieves in 2015.

Early life

His grandfather, a Capetonian of Greek, Italian, British, Ashkenazi, and Anatolian descent, was a racing driver who competed and gained medals at the 1955 Monte Carlo Rally. He migrated from South Africa to the United States when he was offered an international tennis scholarship by the University of West Alabama and moved to New York City in 1992 to pursue an acting career.

Personal life

Savante was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2010 and has been a vocal advocate for other patients. The disease, according to him, attacked his organs, including his liver. Later in life, he was also diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
