Doug E. Doug (born Douglas Bourne) is an American actor, comedian, screenwriter, producer, and film director.

He started his career at age 17 as a stand-up comedian.

He played the role of Griffin Vesey on the CBS sitcom Cosby, Sanka Coffie in the film Cool Runnings, and the voice of Bernie in the animated film Shark Tale.

Career

Doug has appeared in many films, including Jungle Fever (1991), Hangin' with the Homeboys (1991), Cool Runnings (1993), Operation Dumbo Drop (1995), and Eight Legged Freaks (2004). He appeared on Where I Live, Bill Cosby's short-lived ABC sitcom, and then played Hilton Lucas' boarder and surrogate son Griffin Vesey on Cosby, and later played Hilton Lucas' boarder and surrogate son Griffin Vesey on Cosby. He appeared in the animated film Shark Tales in 2004 and then appeared on two episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2004, 2012).

Doug E. Doug began his career as a stand-up comedian at the age of 17. Doug was first seen at the Apollo Theater by Russell Simmons, who then asked Doug to write and host The New Music Report, a syndicated late-night program produced by Simmons. When he spoke one line in Spike Lee's film Mo' Better Blues, his entrance into film began.

In Cool Runnings, Doug is known to film fans for his role as the spirited pushcart driver and bobsled racer. The film is loosely based on the true story of the first Jamaica national bobsled team attempting to make it to the Winter Olympics.

Doug is also known for his work as the ne'er do well Willie Stevens in Hangin' with the Homeboys. He was nominated for Best Actor by the Independent Spirit Award for this role. In the 1997 version of That Darn Cat, he appeared as a class comedian in Class Act, a soldier enlisted for an unusual service in Operation Dumbo Drop, an ill-fated high school student in the horror film Dr. Giggles, and an FBI agent. He portrayed a tumultuous small-town radio host with visions of an alien invasion in Warner Bros' science fiction comedy Eight Legged Freaks. Bernie the jellyfish is the voice of Bernie the jellyfish in DreamWorks' animated film Shark Tale.

Doug appeared in the ABC series Where I Live, a show that began around his life and ended as co-producer. Douglas Saint Martin, a sarcastic teenager growing up in a working-class Caribbean family in New York, was portrayed in the series. Doug co-hosted the VH-1 series Rock of Ages, as well as four seasons as the character Griffin in the television series Cosby. Little Bill Percy, Doug, percy the pet store owner, appeared on the Nickelodeon animated show. Doug appeared in Touched by an Angel, Law and Order: SVU, and NBC's Conviction.

Doug appeared in the musical Purlie as a man of action. It ranged from March 31 to April 3, 2005.

Doug appeared in Citizen James, his first as a producer/producer, and he wrote and performed. Citizen James on Starz Encore/ BET Movies was on display.

In late 2012, Doug began The Doug Life Show on YouTube as part of The Comedy Shaq Network. It is a collection of skit comedy and commentaries that are very loosely based on Doug's personal interests, thoughts, and life.

He appears in The 2015 film An Act of War.
