Professional career

Stevenson began working as a manager with Top Rank on February 9, 2017. Andre Ward has been named as his boss by the man.

Stevenson is expected to make his debut on a stacked card at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, on April 22, 2017. As he won his first professional fight against American boxer Edgar Brito, Stevenson displayed his quickness, defense, and punching skills. Stevenson was deemed by a technical decision in the fifth round. After an accidental headbutt in round 2, Brito was cut on the left eye. He was disqualified a point for intentionally headbutting Stevenson in round 3. Brito was cut across his right eye by his own deliberate headbutts. The bout was called off by the ringside doctor. Stevenson was ahead of all three judges' scorecards and was crowned every round.

Stevenson's debut on May 3, 2017, according to a official press release from the Terence Crawford vs. Félix D'az world light welterweight championship fight, which will take place on May 20, 2017. Carlos Suarez, an Argentine boxer, was dubbed a KO (noticed). Stevenson won the first round after 2 minutes and 35 seconds. Suarez was knocked unconscious before the stoppage. Terrence Crawford's third bout took place at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska, this time on the undercard of Terrence Crawford, this time against Julius Indongo. In a scheduled six-round match, Stevenson defeated David Michel Paz (4-3) for his second straight Argentine opponent. On both three scorecards, Stevenson easily defeated Paz over 6 rounds, winning 60-53. Following a straight left, Paz was knocked down in round 5 of the tournament. Stevenson seemed to be confident and patient in allowing the fight to go the distance. Top Rank announced Kevin Mendoza (4-2, 2 KOs) as Stevenson's opponent, who will face Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux on December 19, 2017 at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City, New York, New York, New York, New York City, New York City, New York, on November 20, 2017 as his rival.

Stevenson's first fight for 2018 was announced on February 7 against Juan Tapia (8-1, 3 KOs) in a scheduled 8-round match. On all three judges' scorecards, Stevenson easily defeated Tapia, winning 80–72. Stevenson made defensive strides in the game, was boxed with his jab and worked to the body. Tapia was able to land just one punch at a time, thanks to his distance.

Stevenson maintained his winning streak, compiling a perfect record of 12-0, before meeting Joet Gonzalez for the vacant WBO featherweight title on October 26, 2019. Gonzalez was ranked No. 2 by the WBO at featherweight. Due to the fact that Stevenson's girlfriend of the past three years was Gonzalez's younger sister, Jajaira, a long-running feud. Gonzalez and his father have consistently expressed disapproving of Stevenson's family life and their friendship. Stevenson defeated his adversary on the night, winning a unanimous decision with all three judges deciding the contest 119–109 in his favor. Stevenson tried to reconcile with Gonzalez without success, saying, "I told him he's a helluva warrior." He didn't really want to talk to me, but it is what it is." Stevenson vacated his WBO title without having a single title defense on July 9, 2020, having risen to the super featherweight division.

The WBO had Nakathila ranked at number two in the super featherweight category. Pundits and analysts chastised the fight, citing the low number of punches delivered by either man causing a lack of intervention. During the live broadcast of the match, Joe Tessitore, Tim Bradley, and Andre Ward, who were calling the fight, had so few punches that they were criticized Stevenson.

Stevenson defeated WBO junior lightweight champion Jamel Herring at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 23, 2021. Stevenson became the first two-division world champion after being ahead on all three judges' scorecards after a one-sided victory that saw him use impressive hand speed. Stevenson proclaimed, "I want to be a hero in this field; I'm here to last." "I am a fan of the film "Is it true."

Stevenson will face WBC champion scar Valdez in an unification match on January 16, 2022. The fight was announced at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada, on April 30. Stevenson dominated by using his jab and footwork to defeat and outwork Valdez, even scoring a knockdown in Round 6. Stevenson was ruled by unanimous vote of 117–110, 119–109, and 110–110. Stevenson unified the WBC and uncontested The Ring super featherweight titles by doing so, winning the WBC and empty The Ring super featherweight titles. On ESPN, the show attracted an average of 1,353,000 viewers and a total of 1,440,000.

Stevenson's first championship defense as a united super featherweight champion was against Robson Conceiço, the one-time WBC champion. The fight, which took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on September 23, 2022, featured an ESPN broadcast card. He was a strong favorite going into the game, with the majority of bookmakers having him at -1800 odds to win the fight. Stevenson lost 1.6 pounds at the official weigh-ins, resulting in him being stripped of his WBC and WBO titles. Stevenson defeated the game by unanimous vote in front of a 10,107 crowd, with two scorecards of 117–109 and one scorecard of 118–108. In the ninth round, he was disqualified a point for tossing Conceico to the canvas.
