Early life
Kapoor was born in Delhi to a Punjabi family. In Connaught Place, New Delhi, his father owned a clothing store. Kapoor was discovered by Sunil Dutt while making Rocky to welcome his son Sanjay Dutt after a long battle in Bollywood. He was then cast as the villain in the film. However, Dutt's name, "Sunil Kapoor" wouldn't do justice to his sarcastic stint, and thus "Shakti Kapoor" was born.
Personal life
Kapoor is married to Shivangi Kolhapure (elder sister of actresses Padmini Kolhapure and Tejaswini Kolhapure) and has two children, a son Siddhanth Kapoor, and a daughter Shraddha Kapoor. He lives in Juhu, Mumbai.
Career
Shakti Kapoor started off playing several insignificant roles in films, before aiming for a leading role. In 1977, he began his Bollywood journey with the film Khel Khilari Ka (starring Darmendra and Hema Malini). Shakti Kapoor was an actor in Bollywood from 1980-81, where he was villain - Qurbani and Rocky - where he was villain. Kapoor appeared in Himmatwala and the Subhash Ghai directed film Hero in 1983. In both of these films, Kapoor had played villain roles.
He often returned to positive comedy roles in the 1990s and performed them with the same finesse in films as Raja Babu. He has been nominated for the Filmfare Award in the Best Comedian category, and he has been praised once for his role as Nandu in David Dhawan's film Raja Babu. In Insaaf, Prasad, Crime Master Gogo in Baap Numbri, Tohfa, as Batukna in ChaalBaaz and Goonga in Bol Radha Bol. Some of his comedies have appeared in Insaaf, Prasad, Tohfa as Inspector Bhinde, as Goonga in Bol Bhinde.
Kapoor has been a model for imitating actor and dialogues such as "Aaooo Boo" from Tohfa's "Main Nanha sa Bachcha Hoon" and "Nandu sa Bachcha Hoon" from the film "Chain sa yaar" and "Nandu sa yaar" from the movie Raja Babu.
