Shailyn Pierre-Dixon (born June 1, 2003) is a Canadian child actress.

She is best known for her role as the teenage Aminata in the television series The Book of Negroes, for which she received the Canadian Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 4th Canadian Screen Awards in 2016, and she also appeared in the film Between.

Early life

Pierre-Dixon was born in Caledon, Ontario, to parents Christina Dixon, a Canadian actress, writer, and producer, and Maurice Pierre. Since being on set, she cites her curiosity in acting to her mother. She is enrolled in Mayfield Secondary School's drama program.

Career

Pierre-Dixon began her career as a child model, appearing in commercials and advertisements. Kelly, Regina Hall and Harold Perrineau's on-screen daughter, was her first big role in the 2013 Hollywood film The Best Man Holiday. In the 2015 CBC miniseries The Book of Negroes, she appeared as young Aminata. At the 4th Canadian Screen Awards in 2016, her appearance in The Book of Negroes resulted in the Best Supporting Actress Award for a Drama Series. Between 2015 and 2016, Pierre-Dixon appeared in the Netflix and CityTV series Between Frances. Mary Jones and Suicide Squad as Zoe Lawton, the daughter of Deadshot (played by Will Smith) in Jean of the Joneses in 2016.

Pierre-Dixon was one of the youngest presenters in the academy's history at 11 years old in 2015, and she had the honor of attending the Canadian Screen Awards.
