Sacha Louise Parkinson is an English actress.
She is best known for playing the role of Sian Powers in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street from 2009 to 2011. After leaving Coronation Street, she went on to play Miriam Caterall in the Channel 4 drama The Mill, and in late 2014, she appeared in The Driver playing Katie.
In 2015–2016 she played Connie Hawkins, later Towler, in the third and fourth series of Mr Selfridge.
Early life
Sacha Louise Parkinson was born on 11 March 1992 in Salford, Greater Manchester, the only child of English business manager, Leigh Farrow and Scottish housing officer, Cliff Parkinson. She was educated at Walkden High School.
Personal life
On 22 February 2018, Parkinson said that she has Endometriosis. The condition led to Parkinson having an operation in April 2017 to remove endometrial cysts from her ovaries along with other endometriosis tissue from surrounding areas.
Career
Parkinson appeared in Always and Everyone, one of her early appearances. This was followed by Jacqueline Wilson's The Illustrated Mum, which was released on Channel 4. She appeared in The Royal, The Street, and The Bill before joining CBBC's Grange Hill in 2007, in which Parkinson played schoolgirl Anna Duncan for six episodes. Parkinson appeared in minor guest roles in Waterloo Road, Doctors, Survivors, and Shameless between 2007 and 2008, as well as the acclaimed drama Clay starring Imelda Staunton.
She was cast as Natasha in the Red Union Film Awaydays in 2009, and she appeared in A Boy Called Dad, a Made in North Productions film that was released in March 2010.
Parkinson was confirmed on December 15, 2008, in the British soap opera Coronation Street, where she will appear as Sian Powers. Parkinson appeared on film as Sian, as a friend of established character Sophie Webster, played by actress Brooke Vincent. Sian and Sophie became the soap's first lesbian couple in the spring of 2010. Coronation Street has continued Parkinson's employment until 2011. Parkinson made the decision to leave the soap business after filming her last scenes on October 18, 2011. These scenes were included in an episode on December 30, 2011. As her reasons for leaving, she cited a desire to work on other projects and not wanting to miss her first appearance on the show.
