Rui Pedro dos Santos Patro ComM (Portuguese pronunciation: [uj pt-isju]; born 15 February 1988) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for both Portugal and Portugal's national team. He is often referred to as "So Patr's" (Saint Patrcio) for his contributions to team and country.
Patricio, a member of Sporting CP's youth academy, made his first team debut at the age of 18, and went on to play in 467 official games. During his 12 years with the club, he won five trophies, two Portuguese Cups, before joining Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018. In 2021, he signed for Roma, where he won the Europa Conference League in his first season.
Patrcio earned his first cap for Portugal in 2010 and his 100th in 2021 following Paulo Bento's appointment as head coach and his 100th as head coach. He represented the country in two World Cups and four European Championships, as well as the 2019 Nations League.

Club career
Patrocio, a young boy who grew up in Leiria, played as a striker from a young age. According to reports, a Sporting CP scout was in the area and saw him play in goal, being impressed enough to lure the 12-year-old to the club's youth academy. In a 1–0 away win over the United States on November 19, 2006, he made his Primeira Liga debut on November 19, 2006. Patro beat rival Sporting veteran Tiago and new signing Vladimir Stojkovio to become the undisputed starter in the 2007–08 season. In a 1–2 group stage loss at Manchester United on November 27, 2007, he made his UEFA Champions League debut on November 27, 2007.
Patrocio was the subject of a rumored transfer to Inter Milan, Italy's biggest players. However, nothing came of it, and he stopped a Lucho González penalty in a 2–0 final victory against FC Porto this year, making it a perennial fixture in the league.

Following an assault by around 50 supporters of Sporting at the club's training ground, Patro and several of his colleagues, including coaches, were hospitalized on May 15th. They were unable to qualify in Champions League qualification after the team finished third in the league and fell out of Champions League qualifying. Despite the drama, he and the rest of the team decided to participate in the Portuguese Cup final scheduled for the following weekend, eventually losing 2–1 to C.D. Aves.

International career
Patrcia started playing for the Portuguese under-21 team in 2007. Luiz Felipe Scolari, senior team coach, called him up for a 1–3 friendly loss against Italy in Zürich on January 29, although he did not leave the bench; on May 12th, he was called to the squad for UEFA Euro 2008, but did not participate in the tournament.
Patrcio was selected in a back list of six players but was not on the provisional 24-player list for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He made his international debut against Spain on November 17, 2010, and he was in the second half of a 4–0 friendly win against Spain.
