Ravi Kishan was born in Bombay, Maharashtra, India, on July 17, 1969. At Rizvi College Bandra West, Mumbai, he studied only up to 12th. Kishan's family hails from Kerakat, Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh, where he lived for seven years.

Career
Kishan was named Most Popular Actor at the ETV Bhojpuri Cinema Samman 2008 function in June 2008. Popular reality shows such as Bigg Bosss and more recently Ek Se Badhkar Ek – Jalwe Sitaron Ke have welcomed him to the front line of top Indian television stars. He began co-hosting Bathroom Singer, Naman, and Ek Se Badhkar Ek Se Badhk Ek Se Badhki Ek Bez Ek. On NDTV Imagine, Kishan also hosted Raaz Pichhle Janam Kahle Janam Kahilo. Kishan was one of the judges on the reality television show Sales Ka Bazigar telecast on ETV in 2013. The aim of the competition was to find the best salesperson in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Kishan was elected to the Indian National Congress (INC) from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, and contested in the 2014 general elections, winning just 42,759 votes or 4.25 percent of the total seats, placing him sixth. Kishan left the Congress Party in February 2017 and joined the BJP.
On April 15, 2019, Bharatiya Janata Party announced a candidate list for the 2019 general election. Ravi Kishan was chosen for Gorakhpur. Rambhual Nishad, the Samajwadi party candidate, ran in the Gorakhpur constituency of Uttar Pradesh, contested the 2019 general elections. Kishan defeated Rambhu Nishad by a margin of over 3,01,664 votes. Ravi Kishan got 7,17,122 votes, while Rambhual Nishad gained 4,458 votes.
Kishan dubbed Tobey Maguire's role as Spider-Man in Spider-Man 3 into Bhojpuri in 2008. This is the first Hollywood blockbuster film to feature a Bhojpuri voice dub, as well as Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubs. Kishan was inspired to create a superhero film of his own because of this.
