Ravel Morrison Life

Ravel Ryan Morrison (born 2 February 1993) is an English-born Jamaican professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Sheffield United. He began his career with Manchester United before joining West Ham United in January 2012.

Morrison spent the 2012–13 season on loan with Birmingham City, and he also appeared on loan with Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City in 2014, competing in the 2014 Football League Championship play-off final.

He joined Lazio in July 2015 after the expiration of his West Ham United deal came to an end.

He had a loan spell at QPR in 2017 before starting the 2017-18 season on loan at Mexican club Atlas.

He joined Swedish club Stersund in February 2019, before moving to England in July 2019 to join Sheffield United. Morrison competed for England under the age of 16, 17 years old, under-18, and under-21 levels.

Personal life

Morrison was born in Wythenshawe, Manchester, and he and his grandparents spent in Denton, Greater Manchester, before moving to West Ham United. It was revealed that he had been diagnosed with ADHD during Morrison's trial for witness intimidation in 2011. Manchester United's manager, Morrison, had requested a Therapeutic Use Exemption to enable him to take his prescribed drugs for the disorder, but his request was turned down. Morrison did not take his prescribed drugs for the disorder in order to prevent a potential ban for breach of doping legislation and under Manchester United's direction.

Morrison received a 12-month referral order and was ordered to pay £1,445 in fees and compensation after admitting to two counts of witness intimidation. Since Morrison's mother refused to testify, he was found guilty of criminal harm for blowing her cell phone out of a window and was ordered to attend domestic violence classes. Morrison was embroiled in controversy on Twitter in February 2012 after posting a homophobic threat on Twitter, reacting to criticism by referring to another individual as a "faggot." He was charged under FA rule E3, which regulates the use of abusive and/or insulting words, as well as a mention of a person's sexual orientation, and admitted his guilt. He had been fined £7,000.

Morrison was recalled in jail on July 31, 2014 after being charged with two counts of common assault against a former boyfriend and her mother. After three days in detention, he was released on bail. He appeared in Manchester Crown Court in August 2014 and plead not guilty to two counts of assault, one of assault causing real bodily harm and one count of harassment. On January 26, 2015, a provisional trial date was scheduled. Since the Crown Prosecution Service charged him with harassment, he was found not guilty in November 2014 of trying to throw acid in the face of his ex-girlfriend and have her killed. Morrison was cleared of all charges of attacking his ex-girlfriend and her mother on January 15, 2015.

Ravel Morrison Career

Club career

Fletcher Moss Rangers was Morrison's first team. Former United coach Phil Brogan recruited him for the Manchester United Academy at the beginning. Sir Alex Ferguson, the United States' manager, "thought he was the best player he had ever seen at that age," Rio Ferdinand said. Morrison converted to a scholar in 2009 and turned professional on February 2nd, 2010, on his 17th birthday.

In a 3–2 League Cup win over Wolverham Wanderers on October 26, 2010, he made his first team debut in a 3–2 win, and he came as a replacement for Park Ji-Sung. He scored the first goal against Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup semi-finals at Old Trafford on April 20, 2011. Manchester United beat Chelsea 4–0. Morrison scored two more goals in the Youth Cup final against Sheffield United, a match that Manchester United defeated 4–1, securing the trophy 6–3 on aggregate. He came on as a replacement for Mame Biram Diouf in a 3–0 League Cup win over Aldershot Town on October 25, 2011. He then came on at halftime during United's 2–1 League Cup fifth round loss to Crystal Palace, replacing Dimitar Berbatov. Manchester United announced on January 13 that they had turned down a bid from Newcastle United, despite Morrison's employment terms coming to an end in June 2012.

Morrison joined West Ham United in a three-and-a-half year contract for an undisclosed fee. Manchester United and West Ham United's joint agreement guaranteed that the Manchester club would get £25,000 per game Morrison played for West Ham United. Sir Alex Ferguson, the United's manager, told West Ham United's Sam Allardyce of Morrison, "A fantastic footballer" who allowed him to leave Manchester United. You will be amazed at his potential. This is a top-class talent. You have to get out of Manchester and start a new life. He made his Manchester debut on March 17, 2012, replacing Jack Collison in the 81st minute of Leeds United's 1–1 draw.

Morrison joined Birmingham City on loan for the 2012–2013 season, with West Ham boss Sam Allardyce eager to gain first-team experience. He made his competitive debut for the club on August 14, 2012, playing 78 minutes in a 5–1 victory over Barnet in the League Cup, and retained his spot for the first match of the season, a 1–1 draw at home to Charlton Athletic. Morrison's training woes led him to leave his loan, but the team's manager, Lee Clark, returned to the team in October with a strong showing as Birmingham City barely defeated league leaders Leicester City. Birmingham City's growth slowed as Birmingham City came back from 3–0 down to draw at Millwall; "not only his graceful, intuitive ability on the ball and passing, but also the work rate," Birmingham's reporter wrote. On Saturday, he scored his first goal in league football, a "spectacular volley" from Nikola igi's injury to begin Birmingham City's late comeback from 3–0 at home to Hull City.

Morrison's loan with Birmingham City lasted from 2013–14 seasons, and he returned to West Ham United. He was given the squad number 15 with just his first name, "Ravel," on the back of his shirt. In the second round of the League Cup, Morrison scored his first goal for West Ham United on his full debut in the second round. Morrison scored his first Premier League goal and West Ham United's first of the season on September 21, 2013, a 3–2 home loss. In a 3–0 derby victory over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on October 6, he scored West Ham's third goal in his third game. "That's a genius goal for me," manager Sam Allardyce said of the aim. All season, you'll have a harder goal than that." It went on to win the West Ham "Goal of the Season" award.

Morrison's 93-day loan, which would begin on February 19th, was announced by Queens Park Rangers in Championship. Morrison's first goals for Queens Park Rangers came on March 8, 2014. He scored both goals in a 2–0 victory; the first came from a free kick after Paul Robinson fouled Kevin Doyle, and the second from a cross by Jermaine Jenas. Morrison was a member of the Queens Park Rangers team that won the 2014 Football League play-off Final, 1–0 against Derby County at Wembley on May 24, 2014, when he was an unemployed substitute.

Morrison played 33 goals in 33 appearances for clubs and country in all competitions in the 2013-2014 season. Sam Allardyce, the current West Ham United manager, said of Morrison in September 2014: "It's not that he has to impress me as a footballer." It's about bringing the talent and himself to a disciplined lifestyle in general, and Rav Rav is looking for an answer. We'd like him here if that's the case.

Morrison completed a three-month loan transfer to Cardiff City on September 23, 2014, before December 26th, 2014.

On his first and only start for the club against Blackpool on October 14, 2014, he was named Man of the Match by WalesOnline. Morrison was on loan with Cardiff City, but West Ham United placed him on the transfer list, making him available for transfer for a "nominal fee" in January 2015. Morrison returned from his loan to West Ham United in December 2014 after Cardiff City manager Russell Slade said Morrison had no future at the club. He had played seven games, one start and six as a replacement, without scoring.

Morrison had signed a pre-contract agreement to join Lazio on a four-year deal at the end of the 2014-15 season, according to a January 2015 story. Morrison's deal with West Ham United was terminated early in February 2015, and the player began training with Lazio ahead of his proposed transfer. Morrison had been unbalanced in Rome by June, and had persuaded his representatives to seek a move back home. Morrison's signature was confirmed shortly after, with the player reportedly keen to return to London, but Morrison denied these allegations.

Morrison made his Lazio debut in a 14–0 victory over C.S. With his overall result of "sending the fans into ecstasy," Auronzo scored two goals and two assists on July 12, 2015, bringing them "sending the fans into ecstasy." He made his competitive debut for Lazio in the UEFA Champions League's second leg match against Bayer Leverkusen on August 26, 2015. In a 3–0 loss (3–1 on aggregate), Morrison played the final eight minutes in place of Ogenyi Onazi. Senad Luli was in his Serie A debut in a 4–0 loss to Chievo, four days later, and he made his Serie A debut in a 4–0 loss.

Morrison barely appeared in Lazio's start to the 2015–16 season, with coach Stefano Pioli defending his attempt and inability to speak Italian. He wrote a note on Twitter in October 2015, referring solely to "January." That sparked further reports of his departure from the club.

Morrison signed to Queens Park Rangers on loan until the end of the 2016–17 season. He made five appearances for them in the Championship, all except one as a substitute, and the West London club did not want to sell him for £2 million.

Morrison joined Atlas on loan until the 2017-18 season ended on August 31. Only one other Englishman had participated in Liga MX, Chester-born Antonio Pedroza, who was raised in Mexico and whose father is Mexican.

Morrison spent time in Lazio in the previous July after returning to Lazio in the previous July, as well as their pre-season camp in Marbella. It was revealed on February 14 that he had signed a six-month deal with the club. He scored his first goal for the club in a Svenska Cupen match against IK Sirius on March 3, 2019, the first goal of a 3–0 victory. Despite the manager's praise for him, Morrison's deal was not renewed in June 2019 due to frequent injury and his salary.

Morrison had started training with newly promoted Premier League side Sheffield United ahead of the new season, according to boss Chris Wilder, who described the move as "a good fit for the player and the team." Morrison had signed a one-year contract on July 16th, according to a newspaper.

Morrison signed for Middlesbrough on loan for the remainder of the 2019-20 season on January 31, 2020. Morrison had been released by the club and would return to parent club Sheffield United with one game remaining on the season.

Morrison was fired by Sheffield United following his release from service at the end of the 2019-20 season.

ADO Den Haag, a Dutch club, reported on September 21, 2020, that they had signed Morrison on a 10-year deal until the end of the 2020-21 season. His employment was ended by mutual agreement on January 9, 2021.

Morrison signed for Derby County on a one-year deal after playing in numerous trial games in the summer of 2021. On his debut for Derby, he scored in an EFL Cup match against Salford City on August 20, 2021. He left the club at the end of the 2021–22 season, the end of his deal.

Morrison signed to Major League Soccer club D.C. United in July 2022, with an optional additional year. On July 31, he made his D.C. debut against Orlando City. Morrison scored his first goal against Atlanta United on August 28, netting the first goal for D.C. United in an eventual 3-2 loss.

International career

Morrison was captained by England at under-16, under-17, under-18, and under-21 levels. Morrison is also eligible to play for Jamaica, and he was announced in November 2012 that he would be interested in representing them at international level. In a 4–0 away victory over San Marino on October 10, he made his England under-21 debut on October 10, 2013. In a 5–0 UEFA Euro 2015 qualifying win over Lithuania, he scored his first goals for the under-21 team.

He was invited to a training camp with Jamaica in March 2018 to explore the possibility of separating his national allegiance with Jamaican officials. Morrison was selected as one of the 40 players in Theodore Whitmore's preliminary Jamaica squad for the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup in May 2019. Morrison was named as one of the 23 players in Whitmore's final Jamaica squad for friendlies against Saudi Arabia in October 2020. In a 3–0 friendly loss to Saudi Arabia on November 14, 2020, he made his Jamaica debut.

In his last game of 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification against Honduras, Morrison scored his first goal for Jamaica against Honduras on March 30, 2022.

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 1, 2024
CHRIS WHEELER AND NATHAN SALT: The inquests into Manchester United's latest setback under Erik ten Hag had already begun when the manager gathered his players together in the home dressing-room at Old Trafford on Sunday evening. However, Confidential understands that Ten Hag kept his cool despite admitting United's first-half performance had been awful after they came in at half-time one goal down and one man down following Bruno Fernandes' sending-off.
