Tyrone Mings Life

Tyrone Deon Mings (born 13 March 1993) is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Aston Villa and the England national team.

Personal life

Mings is the son of Adie Mings, a former Bath City and Gloucester City striker who now works as a scout for Chelsea.

Mings' Supporter' Club in Ipswich praised him for his charitable work off the track. On Christmas Day 2013, he spent Christmas Day 2013 serving homeless people, and when he was given the number three shirt by Ipswich at the start of the 2014–15 season, he changed the shirts of supporters who had already bought one with his old number on the back. Mings founded The Tyrone Mings Academy, Birmingham, England, which is based in Birmingham, England. It is aimed at children aged 6 to 16.

Mings is involved in an interior design firm in Bournemouth outside of football.

Tyrone Mings Career

Club career

Mings was born in Bath, Avon, to former non-League striker Adie Mings. Mings joined Southampton in 2001 as an eight-year-old, but he was released in 2009 after the youth budget was scrapped. He attended Millfield school in Somerset for two years on a football scholarship after leaving Southampton. Mings served with Eastleigh FC in a trial match against the Falkland Islands, but was not offered a contract. Mings later joined Gloucestershire's non-League club Yate Town. He considered quitting football in the summer of 2012 before signing for Chippenham Town, the town where he grew up in. Mings spent his time in Leopol as a barman and a mortgage advisor.

Mings signed for Ipswich Town in December 2012 following a brief trial for £10,000 and an agreement for Ipswich to play a pre-season friendly game against Chippenham. Mings made his Ipswich debut against Burnley on May 4th, 2013. He was the back-up left-back behind Aaron Cresswell in the 2013–14 season, but he didn't play in the season's opening game due to Cresswell's suspension. Mings started an FA Cup match against Preston North End at right-back rather than his usual left-back role. He made 18 appearances during the season, with 6 starts and 12 substitute appearances.

Mings was given the number 3 shirt following Aaron Cresswell's move to West Ham United in July 2014. Mings encouraged two fans who had bought shirts with his old number 15 printed on the back. Mings was the object of a £3 million bid from Crystal Palace, which was turned down by Ipswich on transfer deadline day in summer 2014. Mings has joined Ipswich on a new three-year deal on September 20.

Mings began the 2014-15 season as the starting left-back, defeating Fulham 21-0 on the first day of the season. Throughout the season, he continued to play as a key part of the team. Mings received the Championship Player of the Month award for September on October 10th, 2014. In a 4–2 home victory over Birmingham City on Sunday, he scored his first goal for the club on February 24, 2015, netting the first goal. Mings made 44 appearances in all sports over the season, including scoring once while assisting Ipswich in the Championship play-offs.

Mings signed for newly promoted Premier League club AFC Bournemouth on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, estimated at £8 million.

Mings made his Premier League debut for Bournemouth on August 29, 2015, with a 1–1 draw with Leicester City. However, he sustained a knee injury six minutes after being inserted as a half-time replacement. Mings' injury, according to the company, will keep him sidelined for between 9 and 12 months. He made his comeback after 15 months as a late replacement in a 1–0 home win over defending champions Leicester City, the same opponent when he was injured in his debut on December 13.

Mings was banned by the FA for five games after a alleged stamp on Zlatan Ibrahimovi in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United on the previous weekend.

Mings joined Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the season on January 31. He made his Villa debut against Reading on February 2nd. Following an incident in which Mings stepped on the nose of Reading's forward Nélson Oliveira after a tussle for the ball, the game was marred by controversies. Oliveira was compelled to leave with deep gashes to his forehead and nose. Mings later apologised, insisting that the error was not deliberate. No retrospective action was taken because referee Geoff Eltringham had witnessed the incident and determined that it was accidental.

In his second game, Mings scored his first Aston Villa goal. In the 82nd minute of the home match against Sheffield United, he scored in the 82nd minute. At that time, Aston Villa had been losing 3–0, but the team went on to win the game 3–3. Despite Villa's poor form at the time, Mings was a natural performer and quickly became a fan favorite, despite only recently arriving from Bournemouth. Villa had a change in form after Jack Grealish's return from injury, during which Villa won a 10-game winning streak in the fifth round, in which Mings scored the winning goal in a 2–1 victory over Blackburn Rovers. Mings appeared in the 2018-19 EFL Championship Play-off Final on May 27th, where he helped Villa beat Derby County 2–1, earning promotion to the Premier League.

On July 8, 2019, Mings signed for Aston Villa permanently. The fee was estimated to be £20 million, with add-ons worth up to £25 million.

Following the UK government's announcement that sports and Premier League teams would be revived as part of "Project Restart" from 17 June, Mings said that the players were the last to be consulted and were only treated as "commodities in the game."

Mings and Aston Villa have agreed a new four-year deal on September 21, 2020. Following the departure of former captain Jack Grealish, Mings was appointed as the new captain of Aston Villa on August 14th, 2021, having served as interim captain during Grealish's injury in the second half of the 2020-2021 season.

Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard had made the decision to ban the captaincy from Mings for the upcoming season, instead naming John McGinn as the new captain on July 27. Gerrard said the decision would allow Mings to concentrate on their own game without being captain, without being weighed down by the extra pressure of being captain, while Mings said he had no problems with the pick and only wanted what was best for Aston Villa.

International career

Mings was also eligible for England because he was a boy in Barbados, as well as being a male in the Caribbean. Adie's father refused to receive a call from Barbados during his own playing career. Mings was given his first England call-up in August 2019 when he was announced as part of the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo. In a 0–6 win over Bulgaria in October 2019, Mings earned his first senior England cap, and the entire match was played. The game was overshadowed by racial chanting from Bulgarian fans, which Mings announced it to captain Harry Kane who then announced it to the referee, who later reported it to the referee. This brought about a standard UEFA protocol, which in large part put an end to chanting.

Mings was selected for the England squad for the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament in June 2021. In a 1–0 victory over Croatia on June 13th at Wembley Stadium, he began the tournament's first group match by helping England keep a clean sheet. He started the following match against Scotland on 18 June, helping England keep a clean sheet in a 0–0 draw. In the final group match against the Czech Republic on June 22nd, he appeared as a second-half substitute, as England finished fifth in Group D, qualifying for the knockout stages as a result.

Following England's humiliation on penalties in the final to Italy, three England players Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Bukayo Saka were subjected to online bullying after failing to qualify in the shootout. Priti Patel, the Home Secretary, said she was "disgusted" by it. Mings then replied on Twitter accusing her of inciting the players' anti-racism speech, which had previously condemned the players' anti-racism news of taking the knee before kick-off as "gesture politics" and that supporters had the right to boo it. "You don't get to stoke the controversy at the start of the tournament by branding our anti-racial propaganda as 'Gesture Politics,' & then appear to be dissatisfied when the very thing we're protesting against occurs."

Mings scored his first international goal in a 10–0 away 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification victory over San Marino on November 15, 2021.

During the season opener against Newcastle in August, the Aston Villa star suffered a knee injury, putting an end to his career that had just started and ruled him out of the European Championships in the summer. He has, however, continued to report news as he returns to action on the field, and this week, showing his exposed right leg.

Jurgen Klopp throws weight behind an England recall for Joe Gomez, with Liverpool boss gushing about his 'crazy' ability to cover four positions ahead of Euros this summer

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 4, 2024
Jurgen Klopp has backed Joe Gomez's calls for an England recall, claiming he will be able to fill four different positions in Gareth Southgate's Euro squad. Gomez earned his last 11 international caps in 2020, but he has been playing right-back, center-back, left-back, and in the last few games midfield to help cover the club's injury crisis. With injury doubts over several players including Kieran Trippier, Marc Guehi and Harry Maguire in addition to longer-term absentees Luke Shaw, Tyrone Mings and Reece James, 26-year-old Gomez has hit form at the right time with England's next squad announcement due on March 14 for games later this month against Brazil and Belgium
