Early life

In Nagaon, Desai, on February 13, 1986, Irena Desai was born. She is of Gujarati descent. Gaurav Desai, she has a brother. Desai was born and brought in Mumbai and completed her education and undergraduation here. Rashami obtained a Diploma in Tours and Travels from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai, India.

Personal life

On February 12, 2011, she married her co-star from Uttaran, Nandish Sandhu, in Ghaziabad. They divorced in 2014, but the couple filed for divorce after almost four years of marriage in 2015.

Desai met Arhaan Khan in 2018, when both participated in Bigg Boss 13 in 2019, where Arhaan suggested to Desai and Desai accepted the offer. Salman Khan later revealed that Arhaan had been married before and had a child, but that he had kept the information secret from Desai. Desai broke up with Arhaan in 2020 after being banned from the Bigg Boss house.

Desai began her acting career with regional films, including appearances in the Assamese-language film Kanyadaan in 2002. Desai made her Bollywood debut with Birendra Nath Tiwari-directed 2004 romantic drama Yeh Lamhe Judai Ke alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Raveena Tandon. She portrayed Sheetal, a college student whose elder sister (played by Tandon) is murdered.

Desai appeared in the Hindi film Shabnam Mausi, where she appeared in the role of Naina alongside Ashutosh Rana and Vijay Raaz. She later made her name in the Bhojpuri film industry, where she appeared in films such as Balma Bada Nadaan and Gabbar Singh. Desai appeared in the film Kab Hoi Gauna Hammar in 2005, which went on to win the National Award for Best Feature Film in Bhojpuri.

Desai made her television debut on Zee TV in 2006 with the mythological drama series Ravan, in which she portrayed Queen Mandodari. In the film, Desai appeared opposite Jay Soni. Desai appeared in the English film Sambar Salsa in 2007.

Desai's first big break in daily soaps in 2008 brought her the spotlight spotlight with her portrayal of Nikki Shrivastav and Pari Rai Choudhary in Star One's Pari Hoon Main. Desai's career began with widespread praise and admiration after debuting Colors TV's long-running soap opera Uttaran in 2009, where she appeared in parallel with Tina Datta and Nandish Sandhu. Ichcha and Tapasya, two friends who hail from various strata of the society, were the subject of the series. Desai ruled out Ishita Panchal to play the role of adult Tapasya Thakur, a wealthy teen who is manipulated by her maternal grandmother into feeling less loved than her friend by her own parents.
