Purab Kohli (born 23 February 1979) is an Indian television actor, film actor, and former video jockey.

Personal life

Harsh, Kohli's father, is a hotelier and film director, and his mother is a corporate trainer. He attended St. Stanislaus High School in Mumbai, Mumbai, and The Bishop's School, Pune, Maharashtra. He changed his education department from Science to Commerce and then to Arts, where he concentrated on Economics, Psychology, and Literature. He applied to be a pilot, but he didn't return to school to be a pilot.

On February 15, Kohli married Lucy Payton, his longtime girlfriend, in a private ceremony in Goa. Inaya (b.) is the couple's first child. (2015) The year was 2005.

Bhisham Kohli, a British actor, a.k.a. Vishal Anand is his paternal uncle (father's brother). Kohli's paternal grandmother was Dev Anand's sister (thus making Kohli the late actor's grand-nephew). Kohli's uncle is, according to filmmaker Shekhar Kapur (son of another of Dev Anand's sisters).

Career

Kohli began his career as an actor on Zee TV in 1998 and received fame for his video jockeying on Channel V. He then hosted Gone India, where he toured India on budget trips.

In 2005, he appeared in an episode of the TV fantasy sitcom Shararat as the genius science student Dhumketu.

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar was anchored by the Zee TV talent hunt in 2010. On National Geographic Channel, he hosted Terra Quiz in 2013.

He has appeared in television commercials for Colgate, Pizza Hut, Compaq Presario, Amaron Batteries, and Castrol.

He became one of the contestants in season 7 of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2014.

Kohli played a key supporting role in Sense8 by the Wachowskis, a Netflix series that premiered in June 2018.

Kohli appeared in films with Bus Yuhin (2003), starring Nandita Das. He has appeared in other films, including Supari (2003), Vastu Shastra (2004), and 13th Floor (2005). He was lauded for his work in My Brother Nikhil (2005). Kohli went on to appear in Mahesh Bhatt's 2006 film Woh Lamhe as a villain and as a villain once more in Bhatt's 2007 film Awarapan.
