Pradeep Kumar Career

Career

When Kumar was 17 years old, he decided to start acting. He began his film career in Bengali films. His notable appearances in Bengali films included roles in Alaknanda (1947), directed by renowned filmmaker Debaki Bose, and 42 (1951).

Pradeep Kumar Batabayal stayed in Bombay and Filmistan studios after he played a key role in the 1952 film Anand Math. He appeared in Anarkali (1953) and Nagin (1954) as the leading actor, as well as with Vyjayanthimala. Both films were very well known, and they featured songs that contributed to the films' success. Raj Hath (1956), Shirin Farhad (1956), Gateway of India (1957), and Passport (1961) were huge hits for him. In the second half of the 1950s, he had a string of firings. He did not have as much success in the 1960s as he did in the 1960s, but Ghoonghat (1960) and Taj Mahal (1963) were both profitable. He worked with Meena Kumari in seven films; Adil-Jahan (1956 film); Chitralekha, Bahu Begum, Bheegi Raat, Aarti, and Noorjehan; and in eight films with Mala Sinha; Ek Shola, Duniya Na Maane; Mitti Mein Sona;

He did not get to perform with the newer stars of the 1960s, such as Sadhana, Saira Banu, Babita, or Sharmila Tagore, but he did work with Asha Parekh in Ghoogh and Meri Surat Teri Aankhen and Waheeda Rehman in Rakhi (1962). He went from character roles with Sambandh and Mehboob Ki Mehndi in 1969, but he didn't have many prominent roles until Gandhi, which received multiple Academy Awards and was his first Hollywood film. Jaanwar and Razia Sultan were two of his later films.

He received the Kalakar Award-Lifetime Achievement Award (1999).
