PJ Morton (born as Paul Morton Jr.; March 29, 1981) is an American musician, singer, guitarist, and record producer.
He has been one of the keyboardists for the pop rock band Maroon 5 since 2012, alongside Jesse Carmichael.
Morton joined the band as a touring member in 2010 and became a full member in 2012 after Carmichael went on indefinite hiatus (he rejoined the lineup in 2014). Following My First Mind, Morton's debut solo EP, Following My First Mind, was released in March 2012 by the record company Young Money.

Early life and education
Morton was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Bishop Paul S. Morton, a Canadian-born American gospel musician and Founder of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, is his father. Dr. Debra Brown Morton, the pastor of Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church, is his mother.
Morton graduated from St. Augustine High School and majored in marketing at Morehouse College, studying in 2003.
Personal life
On December 25, 2008, he married Kortni Morton. They grew up attending the same church and started dating as adults. They have three children.
Career
Morton's friend and Maroon 5's musical director Adam Blackstone invited him to audition for a role as both a keyboardist and rap vocalist. Morton was the first to audition and left an indelible mark on the group. Since then, he has appeared on television and other live performances with Maroon 5. Morton filled-in for the band's keyboardist Jesse Carmichael, who was on an indefinite absence from performing with the band, as stated on the band's official website in March 2012. He joined Maroon 5 as a full-time member, contributing his vocal and keyboard parts on the band's fourth studio album, Overexposed, and continuing to do so during the recording of the band's albums, V (2014), Red Pill Blues (2017), and Jordi (2021).
Mack Maine, who has signed him and his production company, Soothe Your Soul, and Young Money Entertainment in 2011, were attracted by his solo performance. Following My First Mind (EP) was announced on March 27, 2012.

"I named it Gumbo because the actual dish is made of a slew of things mixed in together to make [something] beautiful," the album's name says. I wanted to grow as a writer and talk about more topics, like where we are in the world today, the heat, and how divided we are as a nation. I felt like I was dumping a slew of topics together, and I did it in New Orleans, so it looked like gumbo to me." Morton unveiled Bounce & Soul Vol. as a first step on March 25, 2016. 1, a mixtape that features reimagined versions of his best songs in New Orleans' bounce style. Morton unveiled the Sticking to My Guns EP on July 1, 2016, which also included the single of the same name. The EP includes alternate versions of "First Begins" and "Sticking to My Guns," as well as "Say So," a song that was later removed from the album's final tracklist. Morton released "You Should Be Ashamed," a Stevie Wonder-esque socially conscious song that was later replaced by "Religion." Gumbo's release date was announced on March 13, 2017, as Morton revealed on his Instagram page on April 14, 2017.
Gumbo did not make it to the US Billboard 200 charts, but most music reviewers praised Morton's style and praised him for his singing and songwriting. At the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, Morton received two Grammy nominations for Best R&B Album and Best R&B Song. Morton co-produced the album "Say So," which was also the lead single on his sixth album Paul, on February 14, 2019.
