Patrick Bruce Metheny (m?-THEE-nee), who was born in August 12, 1954, is an American jazz guitarist and composer. He is the founder of the Pat Metheny Group and is also involved in duets, solo works, and other side projects.

His style blends elements of progressive and contemporary jazz, Latin jazz, and jazz fusion.

Metheny has three gold albums and 20 Grammy Awards, and he is the only one to win Grammy Awards in ten categories.

Mike Metheny, a jazz flugelhornist, is his brother.

Personal life

Deadline reports that the composer and producer died in a hospital in New York City on Saturday, March 2nd, from sudden illness. Beard had been a member of Steely Dan since 2008 and had recently traveled with the Eagles for their Long Goodbye tour.
