Robin Zander (born January 23, 1953) is an American singer, songwriter, and rhythm guitarist.
He is best known as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the rock band Cheap Trick, but he also performs as a solo guitarist.
In 2016 as a member of Cheap Trick, Zander was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Early life
Zander was born in Beloit, Wisconsin, and grew up in nearby Loves Park, Illinois. At the age of 12, he learned to play the guitar. In Machesney Park, Illinois, Zander graduated from Harlem High School. He joined Brian Beebe to form the folk duo Zander & Kent in the early 1970s after being active in high school bands in the 1960s.
Personal life
Zander and his first wife, Karen, had two children: Ian Zander, a son, and Holland Zander, a daughter. Ian and Holland Zander are musicians.

Music career
Zander was accepted for Cheap Trick in 1974. The band, as well as Zander, was made up of guitarist Rick Nielsen, bassist Tom Petersson, and drummer Bun E. Carlos. Cheap Trick's 1979 album, Cheap Trick at Budokan, catapulted the band to fame. With "I Want You to Want Me," the band debuted in the United States charts in 1979, and with "The Fire," they topped the charts in 1988. Cheap Trick was a band for more than 40 years as of 2018. Cheap Trick has appeared in more than 5,000 shows and has sold more than 20 million albums. In 2016, Zander was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Cheap Trick.
In 1993, Zander released his solo album Robin Zander. Countryside Boulevard, the second solo album, was released online in April 2011, but it was deleted from online music stores within hours of being available.
Steel Panther, a Los Angeles rock band, released a cover version of Cheap Trick's "She's Tight" (from Cheap Trick's 1982 album One On One), which stars Zander in the music video.
