Early life and education

Parvathy was born in Calicut, Kerala, on April 7th, 1988, to P. Vinod Kumar and T. K. Usha Kumari, both lawyers. Aum Thiruvothu Karunakaran is her brother, and she has a sister named Aum Thiruvothu Karunakaran. During her education years, her family moved to Thiruvananthapuram where she continued her studies. She earned her B.A. after finishing high school in Pangode. All Saints College, Thiruvananthapuram, has a master's degree in English Literature. She was a top television anchor at Kiran TV, a full-time music channel based in Thiruvananthapuram. She is also a certified Bharatanatyam dancer.

Parvathy made her acting debut in the 2006 Malayalam film Out of Syllabus, portraying a supporting role as a college student. Rosshan Andrrews' Notebook, her second venture, attracted national attention due to its emphasis on teenage pregnancy. After being selected for one of the three main roles from a field of five thousand applicants, she appeared alongside Roma Asrani and Mariya Roy. She appeared in Vinodayathra, a comedy-drama film shot in Sathyan Anthikkad, (2007), playing a supporting role alongside an ensemble cast including Dileep, Mukesh, and Meera Jasmine.

Kannada film Milana, her first leading role, was a commercial hit upon its debut. She was a surprise pick for the film and began filming in April 2007. The film received mixed reviews, but a writer praised the actress's role, saying that she "has been a wonderful pick for the role" and that "she has the right attitude for the role." The film, which ran for 500 days at a multiplex in Bangalore, went on to be a huge commercial success. Mohanlal and Indrajith's leading female role in the Malayalam film, she returned to the Malayalam industry, and before being released, she hoped the film would have a breakthrough as a leading actress in the industry. However, the film was not a success in terms of distribution and received poor reviews on release.

Parvathy had two debuts in 2018. My Story was the first film directed by Roshni Dinaker, in which she was paired with Prithviraj. Anjali Menon's Koode was her next release. This was Parvathy's third film with Prithviraj, and she had her second film with Anjali Menon and Nazriya Nazim, who was making her comeback after four years. Both critics and viewers were positive about the film.

Parvathy had two new releases in 2019. Manu Ashokan's Uyare was the first to be on display.
