Olajide Olayinka Williams "JJ" Olatunji (born 19 June 1993), also known as KSI, is a British YouTuber, internet celebrity, and rapper known for his YouTube video content.

KSI is a member and co-founder of the Sidemen, along with six other British YouTubers, delivering online videos and merchandize to a combined audience of over 53 million viewers in 2009.

KSI started promoting gaming-commentary videos of the FIFA video game series, but as his following has grown, his content has diversified to include more vlog and comedies.

With over 20 million subscribers and 4 billion video views as of October 2019, KSI's sixth-most subscribed and nineteenth-most viewed channel from the UK and ranked as one of the top ten most popular channels on the site, with Keep Up, his more mature debut, being the first on the UK R&B Albums Chart.

KSI released a joint album with Randolph titled New Age in 2019, after three more extended plays and singles.

KSI's first single under new artist S-X and American rappers Rick Ross and Lil Baby joined RBC Records in the same year; his first single under the new name, "Down Like That," featured British artist S-X and American rappers Rick Ross and Lil Baby.

KSI appeared in the British comedy film Laid in America (2016), and he was the subject of Can't Lose (2018), a documentary film about the buildup to his first amateur boxing bout. KSI has participated in three high-profile boxing bouts; the first two were amateur white-collar competitions, and the third was a professional contest.

KSI won by technical knockout over British YouTuber Joe Weller, the first round.

The fight was described as the largest white-collar boxing festival in history with a live online audience of over 1.6 million.

The second match, against American YouTuber Logan Paul, ended in a majority draw and was described as 'the biggest event in YouTube history'.

The following match was KSI's first attempt at competitive boxing, which he won by split decision.

Early life

Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji was born in London on June 19th and was raised in Watford, Hertfordshire. Jide Adamulla Olatunji, his father, hails from Ibadan, Nigeria. Yinka Atinuke's mother, Yinka Atinuke, is from Islington, London. He was educated at Berkhamsted School in Berkhamsted, where he met future collaborator and Sidemen friend Simon Minter.

Deji Olatunji, Deji Olatunji, KSI's younger brother, is also a YouTuber. Tubular Labs named the brothers first and second respectively as the "UK's Most Influential YouTube Creators" in 2015.

Personal life

Arsenal F.C. is a sponsor of KSI. In a video released in late November 2018, Deji revealed KSI's personal bank information. KSI later condemned Deji's behavior and expressed disappointment toward his parents for allowing the publication of his financial data. "Brothers fight and there's always going to be a situation where everything gets blown out of proportion," KSI reported in November 2019.

KSI was contracted to earn a minimum of $900,000 from his second fight against Logan Paul in 2019.

Forbes estimates that KSI's earnings were over $4.5 million in 2015, placing him as the fifth-best paid YouTuber in the world.

According to Social Blade, KSI can make up to £250,000 in advertisement sales from one video and that product endorsements on his social media cost about £75,000. Heavy revealed in the same year that KSI was the chairman of three UK companies with equity totaling £1.7 million ($2.2 million).

According to Business Insider, KSI's amateur boxing match against Logan Paul in 2018 brought in over £8.5 million ($3.5 million) in ticket sales alone, as well as a larger live gate revenue of over £2.8 million ($3.5 million). According to some estimates, the potential earnings from the war could reach from £30 million to £40 million, but KSI denied these allegations, saying that his paychecks were "a good deal" but "nowhere near £40 million or £20 million."

YouTube career

In 2008, KSI created the username "JideJunior" on YouTube for his first account. On July 24, 2009, he established his new YouTube account under the name KSIOlajideBT, where he posted gaming-commentary videos of the FIFA video game series from his bedroom at his parents' house in Watford. Knowledge Strength Integrity is the acronym used to describe Knowledge Strength Integrity. Since he was earning steady monthly income from his YouTube work, he dropped out of sixth grade to focus on his YouTube work. In an interview in 2014, he told his teacher whether he should drop out. His teacher asked how much money KSI was earning from YouTube to which KSI replied, "about £1,500 a month," more than his teacher's salary. His parents were initially disapproved, but he later became involved and was featured in a number of his films.

In 2012, KSI added more vlog-style content and played a variety of games, and the channel attracted a million viewers.

KSI's ascension to fame was not without controversy. He was widely chastised for his self-described 'rape-face', a common joke on his website during 2012 and 2013, and he was accused of sexual assaulting female employees at a Eurogamer event in 2012, despite her tweeting "it's called comedy." As a result, Microsoft severed ties with KSI and barred him from Eurogamer competitions. Following an apology, KSI apologised "for any offence the video from 15 months ago may have caused in the short time it was on YouTube, with mentions of it since and then used by others" and stated his desire to move forward from the incident and "be judged on the outstanding content and value he gives to brands and partners without controversy."

KSI joined Maker Studios' subnetwork Polaris in October 2013. Since 19 October 2013, KSI has been a member of the Sidemen group in the United Kingdom. In addition to selling exclusive Sidemen merchandise, the group produces online videos, most often consisting of challenges, sketches, and video game commentary.

The Sidemen's YouTube group in Kansasi has sold and distributed Sidemen Clothing items since 2014.

I am a Bellend, a KSI biography published in 2015. The book was published in the United Kingdom and five days later in the United States, and KSI toured to promote the book from its introduction until October 4th, 2015.

Sidemen: The Book, published by KSI and the Sidemen in 2016, sold 26,436 copies in three days and topped the hardback nonfiction charts.

On August 4, 2017, KSI announced on Twitter that he would leave the Sidemen, citing rivalry with fellow member Ethan Payne. He soon released a number of diss track videos mocking members of his then-former organization, to which the majority of the participants replied back with their own. KSI released a video later this month in which he said he was refused from the country due to obtaining a wrong visa. "The drama] wasn't entirely true, but it wasn't entirely fake," KSI's Chris Evans said in November 2017, "not entirely fake."

In 2019, he was ranked second by The Sunday Times in a list of the top 100 influencers in the UK.

The Times announced KSI as the country's top influencer in 2020.

Sidemen pioneered Side+, a subscription service that was released in 2021. Sides is a restaurant chain that sells vodka as well as a XIX Vodka brand.

Music career

KSI unveiled his debut single, "Lamborghini," starring British grime MC P Money, on March 23, 2015 with Dcypha Productions on his YouTube channel in 2011. The album debuted at number 30 on the UK Singles Chart, with the song debuting at number 30.

The title song for KSI's debut extended play of the same name starring Jme was released on November 13, 2015, racking number 45 on the UK Singles Chart. The complete EP was released on January 8, 2016, by Island Records, debuting at number 13 on the UK Albums Chart and number one on the UK R&B Albums Chart.

"Goes Off," KSI's first single from Mista Silva's second EP titled Jump Around, premiered on April 29, 2016. "Mates with Benefits," the EP's second single, starring MNDM, debuted on July 29, 2016, debuting at number 69 on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number 69. Island Records' complete EP was released on October 28, 2016. "Touch Down," a rapper and singer, appeared on the soundtrack of Baywatch's 2017 film Baywatch, and it was one of the EP's songs.

The KSI independently launched "Creature" on June 23, 2017, which ranked at number one on the UK Singles Chart. "Creature" was the first single from KSI's third EP, Space, which was released in a separate manner on June 30th. KSI released his fourth EP, Distrackements, on October 6th, which featured diss track records against fellow Sidemen members W2S and Behzinga. The EP landed at number 31 on the UK Albums Chart and first on the UK R&B Albums Chart, ranked number 31 on the UK Albums Chart and at number one on the UK R&B Albums Chart. KSI revealed that the EP would be his "final release" with Island Records and that he would be releasing songs independently one week before its launch.

On February 2, 2018, KSI released "Uncontrollable," starring Big Zuu. The song appeared on KSI's ring walk for his boxing match against Joe Weller and charted at number 89 on the UK Singles Chart, with the song ranked at number 89. On August 18, KSI's "On Point" was broadcast during his second boxing match, which was played during his ring walk.

KSI released New Age, a collaborative album with Randolph, on April 12th. It debuted at number 17 on the UK Albums Chart and at number one on the UK R&B Albums Chart, and at number one on the UK R&B Albums Chart.

KSI had signed with RBC Records and BMG on November 4, 2019, promising to "take [his] music to the next level" and "further advance his music career in the United States and internationally." It was announced that the label would be responsible for KSI's future releases, as well as reissuing the label's independent catalogue recordings. On the day, it was announced that KSI had already started recording his debut studio album. The album's lead single, "Down Like This," starring Rick Ross, Lil Baby, and S-X was released on November 8, 2019. For his boxing rematch against Logan Paul, the three main acts were performed live by the three featured artists as KSI's entrance music. The song debuted at number ten on the UK Singles Chart, and British Phonographic Industry (BPI) has rated it as the best in the country for sales of 200,000 units. A further three singles preceded the album: "Wake Up Call," featuring Trippie Redd and Smokepurpp, who charted at number 31 in the United Kingdom; "Poppin" featuring Lil Pump and Smokepurpp; and "Houdini," starring Swarmz and Tion Wayne, which debuted on the UK Singles Chart and receiving a silver medal from the BPI; and "Independence," featuring Trippie Redd, which debuted at number 11 on the album;

On May 22, 2020, KSI's debut studio album, Dissimulation, was released. The album debuted on the UK Albums Chart and was further charted in 15 other nations. It was the UK's best-selling debut album by a British artist in 2020, and the BPI has rated it as the country's top-selling 100,000 units. "Cap," a compilation of Offset, and "Killa Killa," a song by Aiyana-Lee, appeared on the album. KSI had planned to perform at Parklife, Longitude, Reading, and Leeds music festivals in 2020 in order to promote Dissimulation, but they were later cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On "Lighter" by British DJ and record producer Nathan Dawe, KSI appeared on "Lighter." The album debuted at number three on the UK Singles Chart and became one of the UK's best-selling songs of 2020. It has been named for Best British Single at the 2021 BRIT Awards and has been named platinum by the BPI for sales of 600,000 units in the United Kingdom. KSI also appeared on "Loose" by Zimbabwean-British singer S1mba, which peaked at number 14 on the UK Singles Chart, which peaked at number 14 on the UK Singles Chart.

On October 23, 2020, KSI released "Really Love" by Craig David and Digital Farm Animals, his second album, which debuted at number three on the UK Singles Chart and was awarded gold by the British Prime Minister. Anne-Marie and Digital Farm Animals performed "Don't Play" on January 15, 2021, KSI's second single, "Don't Play," on the album's second single. The song debuted at number two on the UK Singles Chart, becoming KSI's highest-charting single to date, and has been rated platinum by the BPI. KSI's third single, "Patience," starring Yungblud and Polo G, debuted on the UK Singles Chart and has been awarded silver by the BPI on March 12th.

On February 16, 2021, KSI revealed on Twitter that "The Online Takeover" was his own record label developed in partnership with his music manager Mams Taylor. He revealed the first signee of his company, Aiyana-Lee, an American-British singer who appeared on the song "Killa Killa."

KSI's second album All Over the Place, which was released on July 20,2021, was announced on April 26th 2021 via his social media. It debuted at number one on the UK Album Charts, awarding KSI his first-ever chart top, and has been praised by the BPI for the country's largest ever sales.

"Holiday," the album's fourth single, which was only on the platinum version of the series, was released on June 1821. The single had not been intended to be on the album, but "You" was supposed to be the fourth single to be released on June 4th. The fourth single was changed to "Holiday" due to people who were leaking songs off the album, including "You." The album debuted at number two on the UK Singles Chart, making it the country's highest-charting solo single to date.

"Lose" by American rapper Lil Wayne was the lead single on the album's deluxe version, which was released on August 26th. The single peaked at number 18 on the UK Singles Chart and then debuted at number 86 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first KSI single to enter the chart.

By S-X, KSI's "Locked Out" appeared on May 6, 2022. It's his third single on his debut album. "Locked Out" became SX's first single to chart in the UK Official Charts, peaking at number 53.

KSI's official, Yxng Dave, has joined The Online Takeover, making him the second artist to be signed to the brand as a result.

Following his huge collaboration with Anne-Marie on Don't Play, KSI announced on May 30, 2022, and Warner Music UK. KSI's "Not Over Yet" launched on August 5, 2022, starring Tom Grennan. On the UK Single Charts, "Not Over Yet" charted at number four, and Debuted at number one on The Official Big Top 40. The single set the first record under Atlantic Records. On August 28, a remix starring Headie One and Nines was released on August 28th and was featured as KSI's ring walk tune in his bout against Luis Alcaraz Pineda on August 27th 2022. "Summer is Over" was announced by KSI on September 30th.

Boxing career

Joe Weller, a British YouTuber, and KSI suspects each other adamantly, beginning about the end of 2017. Following public infights over Twitter and diss-tracks between the pair, the pair announced on Twitter that they would stage an amateur boxing match on February 3rd, London, to end the feud. The pair confronted each other during the announcement, with KSI mocking Weller's bouts with depression and his use of antidepressants, which he later apologised for.

The battle was won by KSI 1 minute and 37 seconds in the third round by a technical knockout. After the struggle for being "way harder, way tougher than I expected," KSI expressed his admiration for Weller, who praised him for his contribution to raising money for mental wellness and encouraged them to raise concerns for mental health, he recommended that you avoid American YouTuber Logan Paul, his brother Jake Paul, and retired footballer Rio Ferdinand.

KSI will face Logan Paul in a white-collar boxing amateur boxing match on February 24. The contest came as a majority draw, with two judges scoring the fight even at 57-57 and a third judge scoring 58–57 in favour of KSI.

On November 9, 2019, a rematch between KSI and Paul was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and Eddie Hearn promoted it. Unlike the first match, this one was a professional contest without the use of headgear. Professional boxers Viddal Riley and Jeff Mayweather, uncle of Floyd Mayweather Jr., defeated Paul by a split vote, with two judges scoring the match 56–55 against KSI and 57–54 in favour of KSI and a third judge scoring the fight 56–55 in favor of Paul.

KSI and Wasserman Promotions have joined up on June 2221 to create "Misfits Boxing," a boxing promotional firm. The first event was supposed to take place on August 27, 2022, with KSI also expected to make his boxing debut as the main event.

It was expected that KSI vs. Alex Wassabi would take place on August 2022, but the Swarmz would be Wassabi's replacement on August 6, 2022. This was the first event under KSI's promotions company Misfits Boxing, and it was revealed that a number of other boxing activities under their custody, including DAZN, were collaborating with DAZN, who previously were the distributors for KSI's match against Logan Paul, and that more events would follow shortly. KSI won the ICB World cruiserweight title after defeating Swarms by 2nd round KO and advancing to the ICB World cruiserweight championship.

KSI will face a second opponent on August 16th, prompting the tournament to be named "2 Fights 1 Night." His first bout was supposed to be against Bulgarian boxer Ivan Nikolov, who was barred from the fight due to Nikolov's multiple white supremacist and Neo-Nazi tattoos. On August 20, Luis Alcaraz Pineda, the Mexican professional boxer, was announced as KSI's second adversary. KSI won the ICB World cruiserweight title by beating Pineda via 3rd round KO and retaining the ICB World cruiserweight championship. KSI called out Slim Albaher, the Austin McBroom vs. AnEsonGib bout winner, and Tommy Fury.
