Nusrat Jahan Ruhi is an Indian film actress who works primarily in Bengali cinema.

She became politically active in 2019 and ran from Basirhat as a Trinamool congress candidate.

In Raj Chakraborty's Shotru, Jahan's debut was on film.

She then appeared in the film Khoka 420, under the banner Eskay Movies.

Khiladi, featuring Ankush Hazra, Sondhe Namar Agey, as well as Jeet under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films, is one of her many notable films.

Early life and education

Jahan was born in Calcutta, Bengal, India, and Muhammed Shah Jahan and Sushma Khatun met on January 8, 1990. She completed her education from Our Lady Queen of the Missions School, Kolkata, and then went to college in Bhawanipur College, Kolkata, obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree.

Personal life

On June 19, 2019, Jahan and businessman Nikhil Jain attended an elaborate marriage reception in Istanbul, followed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her actress pal and co-Member of Parliament Mimi Chakraborty, among other guests.

Later, Jahan said that the marriage was not legal, and that "it was nothing more than a live-in relationship." A Kolkata court later found that Jahan and Jain's union is legally null.

Jahan began her relationship with actor Yash Dasgupta, but their marital status is unknown as of December 2021. Jahan gave birth to a boy in August 2021 at a private hospital in Kolkata. According to reports, Dasgupta was the father on the child's birth certificate, which identified him as the father.

Acting career

After winning the beauty competition, "Fair One Miss Kolkata" in 2010, Jahan began modelling in 2010.

In the 2011 film Shotru alongside Jeet, she made her Tollywood debut. She appeared in her second film, Khoka 420 (2013), after a year of hiatus. She appeared in Khiladi the same year as Ankush Hazra. She appeared in two item songs, "Chicken Tandoori" from Action and "Desi Chhori" from Yoddha - The Warrior, both of which were hits and became chartbusters. Jahan appeared in Sondhey Namaar Aagey alongside Rahul Bose, Rituparna Sengupta, and Payel Sarkar.

Jamai 420, opposite Ankush Hazra, starred Payel Sarkar, Mimi Chakraborty, Soham Chakraborty, and Hiran Chatterjee in 2015. Jahan was also a member of the BCL (Bengal Celebrity League) team "Midnapoor Mighities" with Dev and Sayantika Banerjee. Har Har Byomkesh was her second and last film of 2015, starring Abir Chatterjee, Sohini Sarkar, and Rachel White. The film was a huge box office hit.

In 2016, she appeared in director Rajiv Kumar Biswas' film Power, alongside Jeet and Sayantika Banerjee. She appeared in the comedy film Kelor Kirti with Dev, Jisshu Sengupta, Ankush Hazra, Mimi Chakraborty, Koushani Mukherjee, and Sayantika Banerjee that same year. She appeared in Love Express later this year, opposite Dev and then in Zulfiqar, directed by Srijit Mukherji, with a cast including Prosenjit Chatterjee, Kaushik Sen, and Paoli Dam. Zulfiqar was one of the top-grower films of 2016. She debuted Haripada Bandwala in 2016 alongside Ankush Hazra under the direction of Pathikrit Basu.

She appeared in 2017 as Prosenjit Chatterjee and Yash Dasgupta, the first female actress to be based in One, with Prosenjit Chatterjee and Yash Dasgupta. Ami Je Ke Tomar, her next film, starring Ankush Hazra and Sayantika Banerjee, was released in May 2017. Bolo Dugga Maiki and Ankush Hazra were announced on September 22nd, 2017.

Jahan appeared in Uma, followed by a role in Crisscross, directed by Birsa Dasgupta and starring Mimi Chakraborty, Priyanka Sarkar, Sohini Sarkar, and Jaya Ahsan. Rajiv Kumar Biswas selected her for the film Naqaab with Shakib Khan and Sayantika Banerjee after that. In the film, she danced in Joy Joy Durga Maa written by Jeet Gannguli, cricketer Sourav Ganguly, actor Subhashree Ganguly, actress Mimi Chakraborty, and actor Bonny Sengupta. This was issued as a reward for Captain TMT Bar.

Amanda Jones appeared in Asur, with Jeet and Abir Chatterjee, and later in an action film on hostage rescue mission SOS Kolkata as ATS technical head Amanda Jones, together with Yash Dasgupta, Mimi Chakraborty, Ena Saha, and Shantilal Mukherjee.

Political career

Jahan, West Bengal's Chief Minister and President of Trinamool Congress Party, announced on March 12 that he would run in the forthcoming general election of 2019 from Basirhat Lok Sabha Constituency. Sayantan Basu, the BJP candidate, gained by a margin of 350,000 votes over her.
