Mukesh Career

Acting career

With the film Balloon, Mukesh made his acting debut in 1982. Later this year, he debuted in his first leading role in the Tamil-language film Palaivana Solai. The film was an average success, with the film's songs becoming chartbusters. He appeared in several comedy films directed by Priyadarshan in the mid-1980s, mainly in supporting roles. Mutharamkunnu P.O.'s first film as a solo hero appeared in 1985. Despite being an average grosser at the box office, the film has maintained cult status over the years. Boeing's 1985 film Boeing Boeing, directed by Priyadarshan, became his first big commercial success. He appeared in a supporting role in Mohanlal's film. This was his first meeting with Mohanlal. They would go on to appear in several films in the late 1980s, with Mohanlal mainly playing the lead role. Examples include Ninnishtam (1986), Adiverukal (1986), Hello My Dear Wrong Number (1986), and Mazha Peyunnu (1986). He appeared in supporting roles to Mammootty (1987), 1921 (1988), and Sangham (1988). In 1988, he appeared as Chacko in the cult investigative thriller Oru CBI Diary Kurippu. The Chacko's character has deteriorated over the years into cult status. In 1989, 2004, 2005, and 2022, he reprised his role as Chacko in the CBI series sequels. In 1989, then appeared in Ramji Rao Speaking, a blockbuster that stayed for 200 days in theatres and went on to be the country's second highest grossing film. Mukesh got his big break from the film. Audiences and reviewers alike have rated Ramji Rao Speaking as one of the best comedy films to be produced in Malayalam cinema. Despite this fact, the film has a massive fan base. The film has been popular with many memes, with Mukesh's dialogue in the film "Kambilipothappu" becoming a hit. He appeared in Vandanam (1989), which is also regarded as a Malayalam cinema cult classic.

He appeared in Priyadarshan's Akkare Akkare Akkare, which was the sequipe to Patanapravesham (1989). He had been given many leading roles after the success of Ramji Rao Speaking. The film Cheriya Lokavum Manushyarum was then released, and it was a commercial success. Following Cheriya Manushyarum's success with In Harihar Nagar, which is considered to be one of the Malayalam golden age of comedy, Siddique-Lal's most popular films of the Malayalam golden age of comedy, he worked with Siddique-Lal once more. The film was a box office hit, running in theatres for 100 days. Mukesh was regarded as a leading actor in the industry on the film. The film has developed a cult following and a large fan base, with some scenes from the film being used in memes and online trolls today. Following the success of In Harihar Nagar, a series of unrelated low budget comedy films starring the principal cast of the film was created. In the lead roles, Mukesh, Jagadeesh, or Siddique appeared in these films. In 1990, he formed a fruitful onscreen match with Jayaram, who made hit films such as Thoovalsparsham, Marupuram, and Malayogom. In the same year, he appeared as solo hero in commercially lucrative films such as Gajakesariyogam, Ottayal Pattalam, and Champion Thomas. His role as a serial womanizer in Kouthugal Valiantaya increased his fame as a leading actor. He made his Tamil debut in Manaivi Oru Manickam the same year.

In 1991, he appeared in the classic comedy film, Godfather, directed by Siddique-Lal, another blockbuster, for 417 days at Sreekumar Theatre in Thiruvananthapuram. Godfather became the longest running film in Malayalam cinema. He was established in the film as one of the principal actors of Malayalam cinema. He later joined director P. G. Vishwambaran, who had earlier directed him in Ithu Njanga (1982), in several hit films like Innathe Programme.

In the early nineties, Mukesh appeared alongside Innocent, Jagathy Sreekumar, Jayaram, Jagadeesh, and Siddique in a number of comedy films that received critical acclaim. The duo Siddique-Lal's most notable films were directed. They worked together in In Harihar Nagar, Godfather, apart from Ramji Rao Speaking. Siddique, a former director, directed him in Hitler, The Chronic Bachelor and Friends. And in the sequels to In Harihar Nagar, 2 Harihar Nagar, and In Ghost House Inn, director Lal repeated him.

He played between 1989 and 1999, many of which were portraying a young man behaving or appearing to be behaving unlawfully under pressure, such as a bribe taking policeman, a robbery, a robber on the run, a thief on the run, or someone lying to impress his parents or seeking to get a job. He was dubbed Comedy Hero by the media. His role as a serial womaniser in the 1990 Kouthugal Vaintakay boosted his fame as a leading actor. He appeared in Marupuram (1990), Malayogam, Thooval Sparsham, and Post Box No. Gajakesariyogam, Cheriya Lokavum, Sohrudam, Aayu, Bandhukhuk, Aayushyakal, Aayushya Mangrovel, Sohrudam, Ayuzhatha, Ellarum Chollanu, Ennodu Ishtam, Customs Diary, Sohrudam, Cheppukiluk, Sohrudam, Sohrudam, Sohrudam, Soh ya Weiya, Aia Manta Manchu, Sohrudam, Sohrudam, Soh, Aa, Aa Khaya, Aa, Aa, Ella, Aya, Aya, Aa, Soh, Enno, Aa, Enno, Enna, Ella, Enno, Ayayaya, Aya, Soh &apos, Enno, Ennoya undam, Aaya, Enni Kachukilukilukine, Sohta, Sohriya Kuh, Enna Sohta Ku Hajia, Sohr Khammam, Enni, Soh, Enn, Makhro, Enn Sohout, Soh Thu, Sohja, Enno, Ennu, Sohya, Sohrudam, Enn Sohrudam, Soh, Enno, Sohta Khana, Enn Sohta Sons Togya Soh, Enn Kehta and Jerry & The Haz, Ennu, Enna Miya & Koo, Enn, Enno, Enno &Taya Makh, Enno, Khe, Ennya Muz Khazar Makh Mugu, Enn Khaya Bohm, Makhrudam, Enno (Bo Dehmo, Enno Indus Karma Ketch, Makhta Mugu, Makhrudam, Enno & Kehshrudam Kehriya Jules Kish, Enno & Jerry, Ennagu Gugu, Enn, Enno Kishore, Enno tazi, Kishja, Enn, Enniya Sih, Enna Sidi, Kah, Enno Kehya, Enn Ya &Menn, Ennoehrudam, Enn Kheki, Makhta, Enn Khaya Vessel ya Vyai, Makya, Enn, Makya, Enn, Enn Beya & Jerry, Sidya Siya taiya Siyavum Kish & Jerry, Makya Makhta, The & Jerry, Enno, Sohmiya Sangya & Sonjam Kharagonya Binya Sons Siyavum Proshta Inkuniya Sima, Enniya Sis Siya ya Siyaiya Vya Si Siya & Sir Khaya Siya Siya Sonsu, Sohta Makya Deo Sidoiya Siya Sida Binya Siya Siyah Yam a Sido Sidiya Si Si Siya Si Sidie Siya Sidiya Sidi, Sida Sihta Siyavum Polishta Sido Sihshta & Jerry & Siduniya Viola e Tir & Sishta Binyaiyayad Sidhta Siya sidjam Sohta Sido Sidjamiya Sishta Sism Aya, Makka Vya Siyahya Vya Sid Sio Siya Sido Siya V, Sisiya Siya Siya Sishta Sishta Sidya Sidhta Sishta Sishta Siya Siya Siya Sivuya Siya Sidjamiya Siya Sidi, Sido Sida, Sid P. G. Viswambharan's collaboration culminated in hits such as Innathe Program and Irrikku M. D. Akathundu. Sipayi Lahala (1995), by Vinayan and written by Senivasan, is the best example of a film with his character being coerced by circumstances to lie. In films including Varapha, Kinnaripozhayorum, Manathe Oodaruthamava Alariyam, Angene Oru Avadhikalathu, and Mr. Clean, he worked with Sreenivasan. In 1989, the cast of Ramji Rao Speaking brought together for its sequel Mannar Mathai Speaking. In Mookila Rajyathu, Champion Thomas and Varaphalam, he worked with both Thilakan and Jagathy Sreekumar together.

Journalists in late 2008 expected that his career would come to an end, but Siddique, Lal, Innas Khansya, Innath, Innahayam, and Bharya Swantham Suhruthu were among the hits besides Cheriya Kallanum Valiya Policum, Kancheepuraya Razzad.

He had trouble escaping an image trap in the early 2010s. Despite this, he came back to serve in Udayanu Tharam, Goal, Vinodayathra, Boy Friend, Kaiyoppu, Naalu Pennungal, and Katha Parayumbol. He has appeared in several of Mohanlals' comedies, the bulk of which were directed by Priyadarshan.

He also ventured into film with Sreenivasan, their first film, Katha Parayumbol, featured a cameo by Mammootty.

Mukesh, the host of a Malayalam version of Deal or No Deal, which aired on Surya TV, was Malayalam's Deal or No Deal.

In 2007, Mukesh published a book based on his experiences as a student at college as well as tales from his life as a film actor. Jeevithathiley Nerum Narmavum - named Mukesh Kathakal – Narmavum. It was a huge success.
