Mohit Raina (born 14 August 1982) is an Indian film and television actor.

He began his acting career with a science fiction film Antariksh (2004) and then went on to appear in Don Muthu Swami (2008).

He is best known for his lead role in the television series Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev and Mahabharat, before which he appeared in television soap operas such as Chehra (2009) and Ganga Kii Dheej (2010).

Uri Surgical Strike, the action thriller that made his Bollywood debut in 2019, ranking among the top-grossing Indian films of all time.

Early life and background

Mohit Raina was born in a Kashmiri Brahmin family to P.L. on August 14, 1982. Sushma Kumara and Raina were born in Jammu and raised with him. He was educated at Kendriya Vidyalaya School, Jammu, and obtained a bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Jammu. He went to Mumbai to begin a modeling career. He hoped that modeling would provide him with a path into acting, but he dropped 29 kilograms (64 lb) from his teenage weight of 107 kilograms (236 lb) so that he could compete in the 2005 Grasim Mister India modelling competition. He was selected as one of the top five competitors in the league.

Raina announced on January 1, 2022, that he had married his longtime girlfriend Aditi Sharma.

Career

In 2004, Mohit's acting career began with a science fiction TV show called Antariksh. He starred in Don Muthu Swami, a comedy film that was not a success at the box office and led him to return to television work in 2008. He appeared in the Chehra TV series in 2009, a suspense story revolving around a disabled girl. Mohit played Garv, a young business tycoon. He was also a member of Bandini.

He was cast as the lead in Nikhil Sinha's Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev's 2011. The series was centered on Shiva, depicting his transformation from a hermit to a householder, Sati, and then to Parvati. Mohit concentrated on his physique for the role and began learning Kathak, an Indian classical dance form that is an integral part of his role as Shiva. According to the Times of India, the role attracted followers due to his "fab abs, groovy smile, and acting chops." In the series, which lasted three years, by which time Mohit became a celebrity, it was beyond.

In the historical serial Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat on Colors TV, Mohit played adult emperor Ashoka. From May 2016, the series began broadcasting. After Ashoka, Mohit played the lead role as Havildar Ishar Singh in 21 Sarfarosh - Saragarhi 1897, which is based on the Battle of Saragarhi.

Major Karan Kashyap was the protagonist in the Bollywood film Uri: The Surgical Strike, which was released on January 11, 2019.

He made his ZEE5 web series Kaafir debut, starring Dia Mirza.
