Early life
Marie-Charms Mishael Morgan was born in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago, on July 15, 1986. Morgan is Michael and Sharon (Lee) Morgan's daughter; she has an older sister, Maggris, and a younger sister, Monique. Morgan's parents immigrated the family to New York, where Mishael found work. However, the family then migrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and settled in Mississauga, fearing it would be safer. She grew up in Toronto and then began working on television.
Personal life
In May 2012, Morgan married Navid Ali. In 2015, Morgan welcomed their first child, a boy. Christel Khalil, her co-star on The Young and the Restless, co-hosted her baby shower on July 19, 2015. In addition, the couple has a daughter, who was born in 2018.
Career
She appeared in The Best Years, a Canadian teen drama series, from 2008 to 2009, and then she was a regular cast member of YTV's Family Biz. She appeared in small roles in both Casino Jack (2010) and Total Recall (2012) as a regular participant in the CBC Television comedy-drama Republic of Doyle. Morgan appeared on Supernatural and The Listener as a guest. Morgan appeared in The CW summer comedy series Backpackers in 2014.
Morgan was cast as Hilary Curtis in the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless in May 2013. Morgan said on June 11, 2018 that she would be leaving the soap earlier than expected. Morgan's rep later revealed that Morgan resigned after unsuccessful attempts to lobby for a raise in salary. On July 27, 2018, Morgan made her final appearance on the soap as Hilary, when the actress succumbbed to life-threatening injuries after a car collision. Amanda Sinclair, her new character, appeared on the show on September 19, 2019.
Morgan was the first black woman to win the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series on June 24, 2022, which she received for her portrayal of Amanda Sinclair.
