Career

Swan first appeared in local theater and was part of an improvisational company in the late 1960s called The Illegitimate Theater. He moved to Los Angeles and spent time as a wine consultant at Wally's Liquors in Westwood. He studied with David Alexander, a mentor and coach to actors like Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, and Ross Martin, who was still looking for a career in acting. He has played on Bronk and Medical Center as a regular character. Throughout the 1970s-1980s, he made more than 100 Primetime television appearances. He appeared in many Shakespeare plays at The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum, including seven seasons as Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew.

Duncan McKechnie, a Scottish adventurer, joined Swan in 1986 as a member of As the World Turns, a role that has lasted for ten years.

Swan appeared in Adam Alexander's role as the long-lost ex-husband of Sally Spectra in 1998. From 1998 to 2003, he appeared as a contract actor and as a guest star. Swan has appeared in several films directed by Roger Corman and has also done commercial work, both on-camera and voice-over work. Daniel Trisk, a patriarch, appeared in the PureFlix film Hilton Head Island.
