He plays primarily as a right-back, but he has also been used as a left winger or left midfielder.
Club career
Zeffane, a native of Lyon's Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon, made his debut for the Olympique Lyonnais B team against RCO Agde on August 21, 2010 in which he played the full 90 minutes as Lyon's B team lost the game 1–0. He scored his first goal for the Lyon B team the next season on August 13, 2011, against FC Villefranche at the Stade Armand Chouffet, where he found the net in the 54th minute in what turned out to be Lyon B's last goal in a 6–0 victory over Villefranche.
Zeffane joined Rennes, France, in August 2015, completing a four-year deal. In a 2–1 away victory for Rennes, he scored the winning goal against his old team Lyon on August 22, 2015.
Zeffane signed a two-year deal with Russian Premier League club Krylia Sovetov Samara on January 30, 2020.
He joined Süper Lig club Yeni Malatyaspor on a one-and-a-year deal on January 14, 2022, with the option to extend for another year. After the club failed to play his salary and the lives of his teammates, he decided to end his deal in April. He made nine appearances in the league, while Yeni Malatyaspor finished last.
Zeffane returned to France on June 2022 and signed a two-year deal with Clermont with an option for a third year.
International career
Zeffane, who was born in France to Algerian parents, was first eligible to represent either France or Algeria. He was selected by new Algeria coach Christian Gourcuff for two of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ethiopia and Mali in August 2014. He was drafted into the final squad for the matches ten days later.
