Acting career
Meghana Raj debuted as a child in the play Jokumaraswamy with her father Sunder Raj. During the launch function of the Tamil film Poi in February 2006, the film's director K. Balachander invited her to pursue an acting career, starring in one of his forthcoming films. She was given the lead female role in the Tamil film Krishnaleelai, a Balachander production directed by Selvan. Despite shooting throug 2008, which was completed in early 2009, the film was stuck in production hell and its release was delayed for various reasons.
She started shooting for a Telugu film Bendu Apparao R.M.P., which would be her first feature film release even before the film's release. She starred Allari Naresh and Kamna Jethmalani, a comedy entertainer who debuted in October 2009 and went on to be very popular at the box office. In Punda, a remake of the 2007 Tamil film Polladhavan, she made her debut in the Kannada films by enacting the female lead role. Meghana's next film, the Boopathy Pandian-directed Kaadhal Solla Vandhen, was her first Tamil film, although she also signed up her first Malayalam project, the horror film Yakshiyum Njanum, which was released in August 2010. Although the film was only an average grosser, Meghana's glamorous and sensuous songs made her a hit among youth and made her an instant favorite among the youth. During that time, she appeared in two other projects, Nanda Nanditha, a remake of the 2008 Kannada film Nanda Loves Nanditha and Tamil film Kalla Siripazhaga.
Meghana reverted to winning ways with the Malayalam film Beautiful, which was released in the first week of December after a string of failures during the majority of 2011. She was only seen repeatedly as a glamorous actress. The film was both commercially and critically, and analysts generally thought it was one of the best Malayalam movies of 2011. Meghana's portrayal of Anjali, a home nurse in the film, has received raves. Meghana became popular in Malayalam after being noticed with Beautiful, and for a brief period of time, she was the most sought-out actress in Malayalam.
Meghana's body had to be rebuilt after going through a strict diet and workout regimen during this period. She made this decision partly because she was being consistently ignored in Kannada films (her mother tongue) and the explanation was that she was overweight.
Namukku Parkkan, a 2012 Malayalam film, did a good job at the box office. Mullamottum Munthiricharum, Banking Hours, 10 to 4, Maad Dad, Madirasi, and Red Wine failed to appear in any of the sub-films Mullamottum Munthiricharum. Despite this, her forthcoming film Memories starring Prithviraj Sukumaran opened to largely positive feedback and was a box office hit.
Meghana Raj returned to Kannada films in late 2013 with the hit film Raja Huli; her appearances in both films were highly praised. Meghana's next Kannada film Aatagara was released in late August 2015 to both critical and commercial acclaim, as well as a hat-trick of hits in Sandalwood. She is currently focusing more on Kannada films because she has a slew of Sandalwood offers. Vainquedharaka's next film, Valiant, received mixed to critical feedback and, as a result, fell at the box office.
The boxes office's best sellers, Meghana Raj's posts, such as Hallelooya, Lakshmana, Bhujanga, and Allama, were all non-performers at the box office. As of now, she has appeared in just a few more Kannada and Malayalam films. In the Kannada magnum opus Kurukshetra, Meghana was recently selected to portray princess Bhanumati.
